Not if you keep making secret changes.

Fair enough, I didn't do much. Here is the updated config.plist

- nv_disable=1
- not injecting Intel graphics

Here is the picture
'Waiting for DSMOS' without a corresponding 'DSMOS has arrived' implies that FakeSMC.kext is missing or not loaded.

To be quite clear, what are you actually attempting to do ?

I'm updating from El Capitan to Sierra via the app store

FakeSMC is there (but is the same I've used for a while) Is there a new one?

'While' is a relative term - There is a FakeSMC.kext in the Downloads section.
I would delete all of the 10.* folders from /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/ leaving just the /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other folder containing your kexts.

Have you updated Clover ?

I came home today auper excited after I saw this, downloaded the FakeSMC.kext, made sure I had the latest clover updated, and got stuck at the same place :( (see attached picture)

Once again, 'Waiting for DSMOS' without a corresponding 'DSMOS has arrived' implies that FakeSMC.kext is missing or not loaded.
