random freezes and video playback issues

so periodically my hackintosh will freeze for no apparent reason forcing me to hold down the power button to reset it, this has only been happening since the 10.8.3 update. I also have an issue with embedded flash video playback. my version of flashplayer is up to date and hardware acceleration is disabled but whenever i navigate away from a tab with an embedded flash video playing (e.g. youtube) and then click back the video lags horrendously.

Graphics card: nvidia gtx460
RAM 16GB Corsair vengeance 1600mhz

I read somewhere the GTX 550 TI is freezing up too. I am running a gtx 550 ti and get random lockups with 10.8.3. Someone was suppose to try 10.8.2 again but that is the last thing I read about it so no idea if it worked.
Supposedly 10.8.2 had no issues and apple did something in 10.8.3
