Article: OS X 10.8.4 Update

I'm on 10.8.3 and my USBs 3.0 have always worked. Everything is smooth for me up to date. I guess I won't update if no problems suddenly pop up? Or there is a significant performance improvement or something?

Like they say, if it ain't broken, don't fix it :shifty:

I upgraded from 10.8.2 and my USB 3.0 did not work on it neither did autosleep. After upgrade, I got USB 3.0 working which is great but autosleep still doesn't work which is a big PITA.

When I look up the assertions (pmset -g assertions in terminal). I get the following...

Assertion status system-wide:
PreventUserIdleDisplaySleep 0
PreventSystemSleep 0
PreventUserIdleSystemSleep 0
ExternalMedia 0
UserIsActive 0
ApplePushServiceTask 0
BackgroundTask 1

Listed by owning process:
pid 194(helpd): [0x0000000c00000160] 00:17:14 BackgroundTask named: "com.apple.helpd.sdmbuilding"

I can manually put computer to sleep and wake it up no problem. I downloaded "Please Sleep" app and it will go to sleep but computer freezes on wakeup with gray screen. If anyone has any other insite to the autosleep please PM or reply.

Thanks

since after the update via the app store the audio is gone same as :

Depends what version of Multi-Beast you used last. For me I reinstalled not only the audio driver but also the USB3 driver and FakeSMC which were updates for me.

Geez, it sure took me a long time to update from 10.8.2.

So I downloaded the 10.8.4 combo update. Checked the SHA1 just to make sure. Updated from 10.8.2...and only had a sound issue. I reinstalled my ALC898 without DSDT from MultiBeast 5.3.1. Everything seems to be working fine. I still have my CPU Power Mangagement and it looks like I still have my AGPM going on too.

Thank you to Tonymacx86, MacMan, Toleda, PikeRAlpha, and every single person on here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :headbang: You all ROCK!!!!

ps...The App Store still says I have a Thunderbolt Firmware update to install....since I don't have a future MacPro nor any other Apple made product with Thunderbolt I do not see how my firmware can be updated...so no worries on my end.

when you guys say you reinstalled audio drivers from MB, does that mean you have to check only the audio boxes or check all the boxes in whatever specific combo needed for your setup again?

Like I'm sure it was for most first time hackintoshers, it took me days to get the MB configuration right for a proper boot. Now that its working I'm pretty hesitant to do anything to it cause I use it every day for freelance work. I really can't afford to have anything go wrong! :(

My audio never got to working, at least through the green audio port, I use a firewire port for Pro Tools..

Thanks in advance to any hero's willing to help!

My specs are:

OSX 10.8.1 - GB-Z77X-UD5H-WB
CPU- Intel Core i7 3770 3.4GHz

SanDisk 120GB Extreme SSD Solid State Drive - 2.5"

LazerRifle,

The only kexts that need to be reapplied after an OSX update is the audio one. If you are using USB or Firewire for audio then you do not need to do this.

Thankyou Adrian B!

You are now level HERO :headbang:

So just to be sure, if I do the combo update it should be as normal, just restart after the update and I don't have to do anything else?

thanks,

Correction....I did have to reinstall my old AGPM kext for Graphics Power Management.
