I successfully upgraded to Catalina and trying to follow the old instructions from Mojave to get audio working which are:

Download and install ( drag & drop ) in EFI / Clover / Kexts / Other folder:

1. AppleALC.kext
2. Lilu.kext
3. CodecCommander.kext

Edit config.plist with Clover Configurator:

• Devices / Audio Inject= 1. ( Asus Strix layout is 1, different Motherboard and audio chip ? -->supported codecs )
• ResetHDA = True ( checked )
• Acpi / Fixes / FixHDA = True (checked)

Unfortunately, I still do not have audio

Did anyone manage to get audio working on this board with Catalina?

You need to install your kext's into /Library/Extensions, I didn't do anything else like edit config.plist etc

You are absolutely correct, I put the extensions there instead of /EFI and now I have audio - thank you!

It's not only Catalina related, running Mojave, sound suddenly stopped working without even a reboot. Reinstalling the kexts in L/E instead of Clover solved it also ...
