Please forgive my ignorance. However, you might find post #4 of this tonymac thread of some interest.
What was your source for your Nvidia driver 387.10.10.10.40.140? The one I attached in my post #172 above is the one that was fixed by nVidia after the original's code signature was revoked. It's the one I use now. If you got one of the original drivers whose signature was revoked, that might be what's causing your error message. Also, in your EFI folder, OC/config.plist/Misc/Security, be sure "SecureBootModel" Value is set to "Disabled" (no quotes). Once everything is working again, you could consider setting it back to "Default." (I leave mine at "Disabled.")I tried to install the 2020-005 security update again and after the restart I have the situation of the attachment image 1.
I downloaded the driver you posted, but I haven't been able to install it yet because it asks me for the 17G14042 version of high sierra ... the error message in fact I do not receive it for the drivers, but I receive it immediately after updating to security 2020-005What was your source for your Nvidia driver 387.10.10.10.40.140? Thank you utterDisbelief, but I already know this procedure and it is precisely in that way that I read that my version of high sierra is the 17G66Go to About This Mac and bring up the window. Then mouse-click on the Version 10.13.6 line under macOS High Sierra to check which version you are using:
View attachment 556408
That will confirm you are on the correct update.

excuse me Utter, but i'm saying this from 3 pages of thread ... of course i know it!Then perhaps you know you need to upgrade to Security Update 2020-006 to allow the new Nvidia web-drivers to work?
what i keep repeating is i've upgraded 2022-005 but it won't let me upgrade 2022-006 which would bring my high sierra to version 17G14042 because I receive the error in attachment (I post it here again)If you are on 17G66 then the 2020-005 upgrade did not work. You will need to try again.
Once at 2020-005 you can upgrade once more to 2020-006.
You can not just upgrade from 17G66 to 17G14042 in only one step, you need to perform the two upgrades.

I just installed a new SSD on my PC and I repeated the procedure from scratch to install a new version of High SierraI'm sorry, but your problem is not completely clear to me ...
So are you stating your macOs version is still showing as 17G66? Or does it show 17G14033 now?
If you have successfully upgraded to 2020-005 then you should indeed see 17G14033.
2020-006 will then give you 17G14042.
That error you show is usually related to the disk format of the destination drive. APFS or HFS+ ? Later versions of macOS High Sierra changed the APFS structure and earlier disks may not be compatible.
To recommend a way to rectify this we'd need to know more clearly where you are at now.
