Hi Feartech, okay ... maybe the solution is in this thread that you reported some time ago

I'm reading all the discussions...
yes, and it got sorted:

Arky,

Not clear to me what you are presently trying to solve. Your Nvidia GTX 980 graphics card was made with the Pascal architecture, if I have researched that correctly. Given that, MacOS High Sierra is the latest Mac OS that can use that card. The software driver you would need under MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6 is nVidia version 387.10.10.10.40.140. This version works for me on both my GT1030 in my "Mini-ITX 1" computer (listed below) and my GTX 1050 TI OC in my "Mini-ITX 3".

Also as far as I know there are presently no nVidia drivers for Pascal (or Maxwell) graphics cards that will work under MacOS later than High Sierra. If you can boot High Sierra 10.13.6 Build 17G14042, try the attached driver on your GTX 980.

Hi Wstrohm, thanks for the support.

I already found this driver in the discussion I was talking about with Feartech.

The problem is that I haven't been able to install it yet because as you rightly said it requires the 17G14042 version of High Sierra.
I currently have version 17G65.
I know that to update to 17G14042 I have to install the 2020-005 update first and then the 2020-006 update but when I try to update to 2020-005 from opencore no longer loads the MacOSX ... I restored MacOSX, then I tried to update again and now the PC doesn't start anymore ... I can't even load the Bios because the PC turns off by itself

UPDATE:
I managed to restart the PC ... High Sierra is now updated to version 17G66 ... I then tried to update with version 2020-006 but I get the error you see in the attachment ... I don't understand why ...

Hi

You need to update to Security Update 2020-005 first. Once you have done that, you can take the final step up to 2020-006.

Hi UtterDisbelief,
As I wrote, I have already updated to security update 2020-005 and now the High Sierra version is 17G66 (before the update it was 17G65), but it does not allow me to update to 2020-006

Hmmm...

That is very strange.

By coincidence, this afternoon I installed High Sierra 17G66 - and then had to install Security Update 2020-005. This upgrades you to (IIRC) 17G14032 or very similar. Once that was done I could successfully install Security Update 2020-006 (17G14042).

Perhaps you re-installed 17GG66 over a previous installation, or the upgrade didn't take?

Is it possible that the change in build number after a security update is different for different SMBIOS choices? (OpenCore says the default SMBIOS for Sandy Bridge is iMac12,2 for a High Sierra install.) UD, what is your SMBIOS?

Hi all,
i installed high sierra following the opencore procedure on dortania ... as i said, when i upgraded to 2020-005 the first time i had problems then via recovery i reinstalled high sierra from scratch.
Once installed again high sierra I tried again to update with 2020-005 and I am at the point where I am now, that is I can launch high sierra but if I try to update with 2020-006 I get the error that I showed you in the post previous one

@wstrohm:

my processor does not belong to the sandy bridge family, it belongs to the sandy bridge-E family and in this case the default SMBIOS is MacPro 6,1
