Idling for 10 minutes causes Sierra to lag/freeze for a couple of minutes

Attached. I am using iMac 14,2.

EDIT:
Nevermind. figured it out. I didn't do the native power management.

For everyone else trying to figure it out:

You need to switch from iMac 14,2 configuration to iMac 17,1 (warning: this will break things, specifically iMessage, but other stuff too).
Then create an SSDT following this thread:

Then to get NVIDIA graphics working again, boot with nv_disable=1, download agdpfix 1.3 http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/424-agdpfix/
Run it (make sure SIP protection is disabled)

Not really just copy the Values over. Make sure you log out of iMessage, Apples Services before modifying anything. SATA is coming under SAT0 which isn't correct. Powermanagement is implemented.

actually i spoke too soon. the problem started happening again. the issue was not fixed at all.

regarding SATA: I'm running an M.2 drive (Samsung 951). i'm not sure if something still needs to be fixed.

I have this issue as well. I have implemented power management and it is still the same. Never had this issue in elcap. I changed motherboards from z77 to z97 but I was still in el cap and it was working fine.
What else can it be?

Depends which M.2 SSD you have. If you have a NVME SSD then it will require some patches.
