I've been sick of seeing icons on my Hackintosh. I drag it out the dock but it reappears after a restart. Any suggestions in order to remove it?

Looks like a PC Card icon to me not USB.
Usually appears when you have a driver installed.

There were some previous cases of spurious icons, try the forum Search tool.

Yes, agreed, this looks just like a PCCard icon.

It has appeared on my new NUC build:

As we can see the USB part is greyed-out, but "Power off Card" is emboldened so you can action it.

I believe this indicates that the system is treating some part of the USB hardware as a removable card - just like the old PCMCIA-type of thing. Really not sure why though.

Other people with other systems have seen different greyed-out hardware. A quick Google will find them. Here's one I found for Ethernet hardware:

Same result. Powering-off only causes it to reappear on reboot.

I've left mine alone and there's no issue or problem.

It would be great if someone could share some light on this phenomenon.

:)

Elitebook 830G7 screenshot indicates similar observation

Try injecting PCI-Thunderbolt property to applicable device and see if it get rid of that icon.
