HD Graphics 3000 OS X Hanging

Not sure if the GPU is the culprit but the OS freezes few minutes after booting when some apps are opened especially any browser. The cursor can be moved while everything else becomes irresponsive. Only way out is pressing down the power switch for a few seconds. Most likely to happen when some animation is playing out. Least occurrence when in safe mode, although sluggish graphics. There are no artifacts.

Use MacBookPro8,1 instead of MacBookPro8,3.
ACPI not patched correctly.
Make sure DVMT-prealloc is set to 64mb in BIOS.

Turning off transparency in accessibility really makes a difference. It still freezes when animations are playing out. But when transparency is on, windows such as chrome freeze as being moved or popping out of dock. When frozen, the cursor can be moved, the audio can be heard but no interaction is possible.

Moving about windows such as terminal does not cause the issue.

You need to patch ACPI. My guide is linked from the FAQ.

It indicates your kexts are not installed properly.
All kexts you need must be installed to the system volume.

Your config.plist has a lot of questionable settings.

i used these intelHD3000 gpu files. found them somewhere here. installed them with kext wizard + reboot and worked perfectly

I see. Thanks. I will give it a whirl when I have some time on my hand. Anyway, I am injecting all the kexts I need, which I am pretty sure is not the recommended practice.
