GUIDE: GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 UEFI BIOS - ALL WORKING, DSDT not required!

Not open for further replies.
I've updated to 10.8.2.
I had installed the needed kexts with MultiBeast (just in case...) after the 10.8.2 combo and restarted.
It could not boot in normal mode only in safe.
There is some problem with the OemSMBIOS.kext.
So the best thing to do is remove it before restarting, but after the combo and mb install.

To remove it:
sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext/Contents/PlugIns/OemSMBIOS.kext

hmm thanks man I will try this. Seems FakeSMC needs some work.

I have updated from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2 (using 10.8.2 combo update)

reboot with the following error

MAC Frameword successfully initiallzed
using 16304 buffer headers and 10240 cluster IO buffer headers
IOAPIC: Version 0x20 Vecters 64:87
ACPI: System State [S0 S3 S4 S5]
waitForSystemmapper
backtrace 0xffffff0000650cdf 0xffffff0000650059 0xffffff00006507c8........
Kernel Extensions in backtrace:
org.navi.OemSMBIOS(1.0)

fix

(1) reboot using the unibeast USB drive
(2) launch the terminal
(3) rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/OEMsmbios.kext (<- delete this file)
(4) reboot : -v -f
(5) OK!
(6) multibeast re-install the audio driver
(7) done

You can also delete the plugin before rebooting or even before installing the upgrade using the command line or via the Finder.

Is it normal not to have the OEMsmbios.kext or even the PlugIns directory ? I couldn't find it anywhere within my system

You don't need to boot from the unibeast stick. If you din't removed the kext before the restart, just start with -s and do it normally in terminal. Another reboot and you good to go. :)

Just use the terminal command.

if I can predicted that the file will cause problem after upgrade to 10.8.2, I would delete the file first

Hi, I've tried to update to 10.8.2 and had the OEMsmbios.kext issue and couldn't find it on fakesmc.kext plugins so I've rolled back the appleACPIplatform kext and got the system to boot (I'm testing first on a backup partition made with CCC). Now like all fermi cards users the old problem appears again, and I'm think about using HD3000 but only have VGA monitor, So never got it to boot and I dont have the DVI option for now
Is there anybody aroung who uses HD3000 VGA working on ML 10.8.2, if yes, is there anyplace to download the modified kexts for that....??? :beachball::beachball::beachball:
