Im facing issue with Nvidia gt 710 2gb ddr3 on macOS Big Sur.
I see black screen once login screen is to appear with working cursor.
I can enter password in dark and I could see HDD less blinking once its done.

Same card worked on Mojave & Catalina before. Recently my GTX 760 stopped working and as there are no graphics card available right now, I have to use backup gt710 available with me.

Could anyone help with this, Thanks :)

Using open core 0.6.9

EDIT : I tried running big sur installation and im able to see installation welcome screen.

Is the following guide helpful?

Maybe let us know how you fixed it?

In case someone else has the same problem.

Thanks.

After trying all the solution I know and I could find on tonymac site. I found a thread where user was facing same issue. Cant find the link to that thread now. But he said he solved it by booting in safe mode. And then restart machine.

So I had to use USB open core to boot macOS with nv_disable and then change nvram values to use nv_disable -x -f flags and boot the macOS. Once machine booted with no graphics acceleration, I removed the flags and restarted the machine.

And to my surprise. IT WORKED.

Its really strange how macOS works sometimes.
I ideally had no problems in past with my gt 710 and my broken gtx 760. Both worked well. Just after my gtx 760 broke. I replaced it with old gt 710.

So it seems macOS cached some info or something related to graphics card due to which it was causing some issue.

One Safe mode boot and restart fixed it simply.

Thanks for you aproaching to help @trs96 and @Asural :)

Wow this actually worked nicely in Monterey as well. Thanks, as always Tony's site is the best place for troubleshooting.
