Continuity and Handoff Capable Apple Mini Cards + PCIe and mini-PCIe Adapters

Sorry I can't add a positive here but I can confirm the TP-Link TL-WDN4800 PCI-E wireless card combined with a Broadcomm 20702 Bluetooth 4.0 USB dongle does NOT enable Continuity and Handoff. A big pity as I prefer the 5ghz radio.

In fact I'd not come across the options in Yosemite as - per the Apple support pages - it doesn't show up in System Prefs if your machine can't do it!

Now I know what it's all about I will investigate options. However there seems too much plist editing here so far and feel the best way is simply a built card.

Looking forward to developments...

:)

I have this adapter:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005Q751BA

Will it work with
http://www.amazon.com/Broadcom-Bluetooth-Bcm94360cd-Bcm4360cd-802-11ac/dp/B00K0CIJ6U/
for BT handoff??? or should I buy another adapter?

Tks :beachball::beachball::beachball:

actually I have it with this card installed and working wifi:

Hi Bimbo69

This is the kind of set-up I was thinking of but what we will need is an extra aerial and sma cable/connector. We need 4 not just 3. Can be bought from eBay easy enough.

I plan trying this out once I've sourced the items, same as yours plus the extra.

:)

Hey Tony, that's great news! What about the usb cable in case of mini pcie adapter purchase? It seems to be really hard to find

UtterDisbelief,

The fix for your problem is already in this thread. After enabling the Clover patch or binary patch, the options will be available.

Settings -> General will show the allow hand-off checkbox
Wifi status bar icon will show Instant Hotspot on any close by iDevice.

This is on a Broadcomm 20702A chipset USB stick from Toshiba I am using in a laptop.

Note that after your enable the option in Settings -> General, you might have to log out from and back into iCloud on your hackintosh.

I tried the kext patch and it didn't change anything. :/

On the EFI partition, navigate to the folder CLOVER
(/Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER )
and locate the file config.plist, save a copy of it somewhere safe, then open this /Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/config.plist file in a text editor. [Note: if you have XCode installed and double-click on the file, it may open in Xcode’s plist editor. Not a big deal, but using XCode to make the changes is outside the scope of this note.]

Scroll down to the section with the key called KernelAndKextPatches to the sub-section called KextsToPatch. Depending on where you got the config file from it may look like:

Code:

Save it, restart your machine and the bluetooth software changes are there assuming you already have the bluetooth equipment and kexts, etc.

Please note: One thing that has not been mentioned so far is that Apple’s Firewall can affect using the Handoff/Continuity features. If you have the firewall turned on, (in the System Preferences under Security and Privacy) make sure it is set to allow incoming connections. Adjusting other kinds of firewalls is way beyond the scope of this note.

I don't have a subsection called " KextsToPatch" under KernelAndKextPatches.

Here is what mine shows:

What do I do with this?

Thanks
