I am trying to set up my brightness keys on the build as per my profile. I've been following this guide as reported by the FAQ https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Voodoo-PS2-Controller/wiki/How-to-Use-Custom-Keyboard-Mapping but I'm not sure how to actually remap the keys (or, more specifically, how do I understand how to map F3 and F4 to be used as brightness down/up). In addition the info.plist file reported in the guide contains a number of different entries and laptops, and I'm not sure which mapping is being currently used (if any)/how to change it in case it's wrong.

The brightness key guide is mentioned and linked by the same guide.
Read it carefully.

Thanks RehabMan, I've read it quite a few times now and I have read carefully all the documentation related to it. I still don't understand the things I've asked in the post, which are specifically related to the guide. Like I said, the info.plist file I am trying to edit show multiple entries called "Custom PS2 Map" which seem to be referring to different laptops. I don't know which one should be edited, as there's plenty of them. This guide linked in your post https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Voodoo-PS2-Controller/wiki/How-to-Use-Custom-Keyboard-Mapping seems to assume that there's only one "Custom PS2 map" key in info.plist, but I see 7 of them in the file (from your fork of VoodooPS2Controller.kext of course).

Why are you trying to remap PS2 when your brightness keys are most likely handled via ACPI?

Because I can see an output from ApplePS2Keyboard in the Console when hitting the brightness keys (e02b=80 both for F2 and F3). I don't get anything, for instance, when hitting F5 (keyboard backlight on/off), so I assumed that F5 is handled via ACPI instead.

It is quite typical with certain HP laptops.
But obviously you can't have working brightness keys if both keys send the same code!

You need to read on about ACPI and EC queries.

Sounds good! Thanks for helping (although I will certainly come back later with more questions...)

Yes I have a HP laptop and find the same problem. What's driving me crazy is that my brightness keys generate PS2 codes and EC queries at the same time, and in ApplePS2SmartTouchpad kext the PS2 code is understood as mute/unmute. So after making the EC patch those keys adjust brightness but toggle mute as well! I wanna know if I could stop it from giving PS2 codes...
