This has been fairly routine for Apple lately. They keep N-1 and N-2 models around to appeal to different price points.

Those shopping only for the latest generation will find a relatively easy lineup:

• 14 and 14 Plus
• 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max

Imagine if the rumors were true and the larger standard 14 was called the 14 Max. That would have led to this monstrosity:

• 14 and 14 Max
• 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max

So bringing back the Plus moniker from the age of iPhone 6 is a good thing!
