Hei!
Seems that is an workaround with fan out today with the HpFanControl for windows. Can we do it on Lion?

Thanks, nice link.
It's doable but laptop safety comes first.
We need some logic within dsdt to reset "fake temperature" register in the event of laptop freeze or crash and temperature going above certain limit.

Hi guys,

I applied the ACPISensors.kext, IntelCPUMonitor.kext, and FakeSMC.kext several times. Also applied the patch to my DSDT. But I still don't see a fan speed reading with the HW Monitor app. Any other kexts I need to remove or add? Thanks for your help!

I'm on a 4530s with i3-2310, HD 3000, F.20 BIOS.

Attached my DSDT too in case I did that wrong, but I'm pretty sure I got that part right.

EDIT: I was using the Rev.604 kext files. I tried the Rev.582 files and it all works now.

HW Monitor readings:
CPU 0: ~43C
CPU 1: ~47C
CPU Heatsink: ~46C
System Fan: 2858rpm

Do those numbers seem about right? I haven't been able to get 2700rpm like some others have reported.

Hi guys,
I applied Arctic Silver 5 to my 4330s' CPU and temperature dropped by approx. 5 degrees... but just for 15 minutes :D Now it's back as it was before! It might sound weird but lower temperatures (e.g. i've never before seen readings under 40) were clearly noticeable in HWMonitor and in HWiNFO under Win7 32 but. Should I just wait for it break in or have I messed something up with applying it?

rev.604

Tested for an hour on my i3 system without any issues.

Hi BigDonkey.

I installed all the kext in S/L/E.
Ran kext utility.
Loaded HWMonitor.

Patched my current DSDT (made with HP Probook Installer 3.3.0).
Rebooted.

But still no fanspeed on HWMonitor is shown and fans are running us usual.

Caould you please hlp with patching my DSDT?
Or am I missing something else?

I have a: 4530s i3 , 8g ram, F.20 bios, 10.7.3.

Thanks for your great work.

Well this is the original .dsl made with "extract dsdt" of DSDT Editor, after booted without any dsdt.aml to be loaded.

Maybe this would help with patching from scratch?

Again my specs: 4530s i3, 8gb ram, 10.7.4OSX, F20 bios.

Many thanks!

BigDonkey,

I would be very happy to have the fan completely off until 60*c. I know that there is always a risk when changing the default laptop temp, but I'm happy taking the risk. Based on the new information from "HpFanControl" for windows, could you help me to alter my DSDT?

Thanks

in 10.7.3 my fan was quiet but after upgrade to 10.7.4 it runs almost all the time.
The multiplier is like on/off switch 8x or x27, just sometime I see x26 or x16.
I have i5-2410M and 1080p LCD and use dsdt for i7 from HP Installer because of 1080p LCD.
Is there any solution to make the multiplier work? The fan runs at 2701rpm

It sounds like it's more power management related. Did you try this SSDT?
