Adding MSI Radeon RX 580 8GB, what changes need to be made?

I have display port to DVI.

DVI is hard to configure. Can you get a hdmi or DisplayPort to DVI adapter?

Tried HDMI to DVI --> same result (gets to about 1/2 way and exits monitor but pc stays on, fans on card running)
Display port to DVI Adapter --> Gets a little over 1/2 way and freezes, monitor stays on.

I upgraded to Mojave and am trying to use an MSI RX580 and am not able to boot.
If I have Integrated graphics enabled I make it most of the way through the boot sequence (apple logo and progress bar) and then hit a reboot loop.
If I disable Integrated graphics and chose the PCI slot (in this case slot 2) I don't even get to the Clover boot screen.
Any ideas on possible solutions?

Hi. I wonder if you solved your issue. I'm considering upgrading my GPU to a RX580 but I'm not sure if it will work reading so many problems with the upgrade. Was the system definition the solution? Or something else?

I would really appreciate if you can answer
