4K With Skylake - Possible Without Graphics Card?

Like I did :( It was $160 mistake.
OS X doesn't deliver the resolution you want through HDMI but only through DisplayPort, period.
AFAIK very few mobos have a DP. That's the thing you must check.

There's loads of 170 or 270 boards with DP...

There are a few with DisplayPort, including itx boards.

HDMI is the one to watch. Version 1.4 will do 4K but at reduced refresh rates. Version 2.0 does full 4K at full refresh, and version 2.1 does 8K (I think) but is not in use yet anyway.
 
Right now the Asus Z170I Pro Gaming Sockel 1151 Mini-ITX is my board of choice. Didn't check the hdmi version though, I thought DisplayPort 1.2 and everything will be fine :)

So, I found out the DP port is fine with DP 1.2, the HDMI is still 1.4 so the question is, do I take the risk now or continue looking for a board that has HDMI 2.0 & DP 1.2 onboard. Didn't find one yet though.
