Easier? Well that may be true but not quite. You need to buy an unlocked processor first and then you can start the party. After that it's easy, you just need to familiar yourself with new offset system and new options such as PLL, LLC etc. and experimenting may begin. Now if one decides to drop...
OK. Good to know
You mean decrease. If I grind the IHS from the adhesive side it will sit closer to the DIE i.e. decreasing the gap between the DIE and IHS.
That is like the one and only reason for the OFFSET method.
On my stripped Asus board those settings are unclear and do not provide...
Thanks for the clarification. How about the issue of the IHS sitting tiny-bitty lower to the core (because of lack of the adhesive)? I remember that someone damaged/cracked their core due to too much pressure from the heatsink.
My 3570K is a turd... But my mobo won't let me test it properly due...
I was asking about Nec monitors because people have reported to Apple the same bahaviour on real macs (after 10.9.2 update) as you describe is happening to yours while using (mostly) Nec monitors. Sometimes it's just Apple fault that something might not work :)
@macnb
I wonder how long the CLU is going to last under the lid. I used to follow the topic on overclock.net and people over there reported that after some period of time the temps wen't high again. I can't provide actual links to the discussions - just a memory from that time.
I am yet to...
@peacefulwilly
can you please check if you can start Mavericks installer with the HD7770 as the primary graphics, disabling the onboard gpu?
I have an Asus P8P67 which does not have onboard graphics and I wonder if I could upgrade to HD7770 and perform a clean install from scratch.
Thanks...
The zip with the atheros eeprom tool is different than what can be seen on the screenshots. I have 4 folders one of which is named "Debug" and the exe is inside. But it's missing msvcr100d.dll. I can'r run the first commmand to extract those 512bytes of dump. Any ideas?
It seems that first time I ran the Installer I clicked the whole "Sleep fix" directory which highlighted the second option by default. Reran the installer specifying the correct one and it's working flawlessly now. Thanks.
Of course they can. If they are good enough they can even go as high as 1866 or more. Depends on the chip.
As for the OP: what did you put in your SMBIOS under RAM?
So everything seems to work smooth and fine though I ran into a strange problem today that I have never encountered before on any of my hacks.
After putting my 4330S to sleep it power ran out - battery must have been pretty drained. So basically I had to plug in the cord and start it from a...
Pendrive solved my issues - booted like a charm. It's funny though. I was using a card reader for all my previous installations, both clover and chimera, on various different hacks and it worked every time. Nevertheless, issue solved.
@nguyenmac
HP 4330s here. I've prepared and SD card with clover files that are attached in the 1st post of this thread. When I start my notebook and hit F9 -> Boot from EFI File I get a single line: "Select File System" and that's it. I can't move my mouse, there is nothing to choose from. Any...
As I don't know your partition structure I cannot respond to your question with full clarification.
I'll give you a generic answer :) Time Machine backups everything that is not excluded in it's settings. I have two drives for os x:
1. SSD system drive only
2. HDD with user folder + various...
I'd recommend a slightly different approach in terms of Mavericks and Windows.
Make a Time Machine backup of your OSX drive on the spare SSD you have. Prepare a Unibeast stick to install a fresh copy of Mavericks. Swap your hardware with the fresh n' funky new stuff. Install Mavericks from...
It's all right. I'll help you. When you open Prime95 just select Options -> Torture Test and hit Run. Observe your temps for about 20 minutes. By this time it should give you your maximum load temps. Report them back here.
