OS Mojave 10.14.6 archive utility randomly puts some extractions in the downloads folder.

I'm running 10.14.6 on a machine I built for work a few years ago. In the last few weeks, the archive utility will randomly decide that it wants to unzip some files to the downloads folder and not the same directory as the .zip file. I deal with large media files for work and I often download...

The everything works Asus Z390-I Gaming * i7-8700K * SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon RX Vega 64 Build

Dude! This rocks and you are my hero! I admittedly have not completed the iCloud serial number stuff and tested every single functionality yet. But I feel confident that it will all work.

Need guidance on a graphics card

The rx 580 looks like a good option. Thanks for ther the recommendation. When I go to Mojave it will be a fresh install. But what I'm wondering is if I get a new card and put it in my system while I still have the Sierra install for a couple of days, do I have to basically undo the nvidia stuff...

Need guidance on a graphics card

So I built my hackintosh when Sierra 10.12 came out, and it's been mostly running solid ever since, and I haven't needed to upgrade. With that said, I am a little out of the loop these days as far as compatible hardware and all of the installation processes, etc. I have been looking at the...

    booting to black screen

It would seem like so, but I have double checked on the backup/cloned partition and it is indeed disabled.

    booting to black screen

I fell asleep with my computer on last night. When I awoke this morning, it would not wake up. There was no sign of life, except that I could see the glowing lights from my motherboard through the vents in the case. I was forced to do a hard restart. Upon restarting, I got the Clover...

Computer boots to black desktop where I can see the mouse and push notifications

I think I am going to just reclone the bootable disk over to the toher one again tonight and do the 10.12.2 upgrade again. It's not a whole lot of work, especially now that I've gone through it and know the exact step-by=step process now. Thanks for the help, though.

Computer boots to black desktop where I can see the mouse and push notifications

Thanks for your reply! The disk I inserted indeed has no OS on it at all. It is just a data storage drive. It did come out of an Old Mac Pro tower that was running 10.9.5 on it, but that computer is still intact with the system drive in it still functioning. I have a backup boot drive in the...

Computer boots to black desktop where I can see the mouse and push notifications

So I had a 10.12.2 system working just fine. I decided it was finally time for me to switch over to make this my main work machine, so i pulled a hard drive out of the old machine and threw it in this one and it booted up perfectly fine. I did a little work on the machine this morning with no...

Need some help with post-install config.

FYI on the vNVIDIA stuff. If you set your machine profile to mac pro 6,1 (or 2 imac versions, I think 16,1 and 17,1 but I am not 100% sure) that once you get your video drivers working, your computer will boot to a black screen. The machine is responsive, it just doesn't output signal through...

[SOLVED] Cannot boot into recovery mode - Sierra 10.12.2 Beta 2

Thanks so much! I totally brain-lapsed and then found it in there and changed the value. I think I actually may have re enabled it while I was mucking around fixing the audio issue with Sierra in there and forgot.

    Cannot boot Recovery HD volume

Thank you! That part worked great and I was able to fix my black screen. But I am still wondering if there is a way to fix the recovery volume so it actually boots? It might come in handy in the future.

[SOLVED] Cannot boot into recovery mode - Sierra 10.12.2 Beta 2

Mind if I ask where you placed this in your config.plist? Haven't tried it yet but will in a few hours and would like to get any leg up I can find.

    Cannot boot Recovery HD volume

I attempted to update to 10.2.2. I am now getting the black screen caused by the fact that my mac is set to 6,1. I cloned my system to another drive and can boot from there on 10.2.1, but I just purchased some software that requires the update to 10.2.2 to run. I attempted to run the fix for...

[Solved] Sierra boots to a circle with a slash even on the recorvery HD

FYI - I ended up taking my hard drive out of the hackintosh, and put it in a firewire case and plugged it into my working mac and copied the backed up config.plist to the efi volume and put it back and it works now. I have also solved my audio issues!

[Solved] Sierra boots to a circle with a slash even on the recorvery HD

This is truly my first attempt at building a hackintosh on my own without help from some friends. It is proving much more complicated than expected. I got Sierra installed, set up the Ethernet, graphics and audio drivers in MultiBeast. Ethernet is the only one of those that truly worked. I...
