Adding additional color to see if someone has thoughts:
Running 10.13.3 (17D47) as I tried to update to .4 a while back but it just hung on the reboot so I just let it sit at .3 release.
The freezing has been going on for a long time. It's not new, I'm just tired of it. Today, the machine...
Bumping - so tired of this. I get freezing audio (when the freeze happens.). It might be heat related as there SEEMS to be some correlation with hot days, but honestly that could be a red herring. I'm getting close to ACK(!) buying a real Mac and converting this machine to a win blows box. As...
Sure enough - if you get the right part, (i.e., NOT the V2 version of this card), it works right out of the box. FWIW, I'm seeing about a 50% improvement of download speed from the N900 that was previously installed.
Thanks again, @pastrychef !
Hi Folks!
There I was, thinkin'. "Yeah, I'll just pull out the TP-Link and install the Rosewill" and BOOM! 3x my speed!
Yeah, that was a nice thought.
Mr. High Sierra can't see the network device. Apparently, "plug and play" is more like "plug and pray."
Any tips?
Thanks!!!!
Following up on this -
My graphics performance has definitely improved. I no longer dread opening a new tab in Safari. It just pops open as expected.
However, my machine still freezes on occasion, so no extra joy there.
I just did this: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/nvidia-update-simple-way-to-install-nvidia-web-drivers.244987/
and... so far, YAY!
Looks like I don't (yet) have to fork out a bunch of money for a new card.
Thank you!
Before I do this, I'm wondering if I have the same issues.
1.) Safari sometimes just seems to freeze for up to 15 seconds.
2.) Gmail in browser can be horribly slow.
3.) These things seem intermittent.
4.) POSSIBLY UNRELATED, My system just freezes completely and requires reboot a couple of...
I solved this by creating a new install on an HFS volume. For whatever reason, APFS failed me. Lightroom, Photoshop and printer drivers all installed successfully.
I'm also unable to boot into recovery mode, and FakeSMC.kext is in kexts/Other.
My recovery mode boot attempts land on the install utility with no option to boot into Recovery mode.
FWIW: I'm trying to install apps (Adobe Lightroom, etc. and Canon Print Drivers). I'm hoping installing...
It really doesn't matter which Adobe app I try. Creative Cloud says can't find /tmp. Lightroom Classic says "Another installer is currently running... Error Code: P81".
I'm guessing this is related to SIP (thanks, Apple) but SIP is disabled.

Yeah, I spent hours trying to get the Oracle (aka Google) to help me on this. Safe more produces the same error from Creative Cloud installation:
Unable to locate /tmp system folder. Please make sure the folder exists before proceeding with the installation
When attempting to install Creative Cloud, I get "Error Code P81".
When I attempt to install Lightroom Classic directly, I get "Can't find /tmp"
Related, I think, is a problem when trying to set up my Canon PRO-100 printer. Error: "Can't install the software." <-- that's VERY helpful...
I have this problem right now, installing either creative cloud or photoshop. Error code P81. Can't find /tmp. I think this is related to SIP some how..?

Not sure what's happening with my rig. Seems like every time I reboot I have to uninstall/reinstall the Nvidia drivers. Today, I had the no wake after sleep issue for the first time. So I had to reboot. So I had to uninstall the drivers. And now, I have the bonus of a rhythmic tick (sounds...
I'm not seeing any wake issues, however, just today I had a strange incident where everything froze except the mouse cursor. Keyboard and click input was ignored. Had to restart via the Big Red Button. (Ok, it's black on my case, but you get the point.)
Other issue I'm seeing - audio input...
Wish I could help... I'm using the USB ports on my case (2x2.0 and 2x3.0) and they seem to work but I have no USB 3 devices so don't know if they're working at USB 3.0 speeds.
Upgrade from El Capitan to Sierra went smoothly for me with 2 exceptions:
1.) NVIDA drivers. This was an easy fix. Downloaded BETA versions from NVIDIA and life was good after a restart.
2.) AUDIO: No Audio devices found. I tried to decipher the post from toleda found here...
