    Asus Taichi - installing Mavericks

Touchscreen doesn't work at all so that isn't a problem. It works with the pen but that isn't really a problem. Here is the config.plist. But I forgot to make a backup of everything else when I had to reinstall the system. And I will try to make the outer screen work before I try anything else.

    Asus Taichi - installing Mavericks

I've gone though a few linux forums to see if this thing works on linux. Apparently it does. The only thing is that you have to boot it with the laptop closed if you want the external screen to work. So it is definitely just a graphics driver issue and you don't need anything special to get the...

    Asus Taichi - installing Mavericks

I can deal with frustration. And I already own a MBP. It is an Early 2011 model with an i5 and a DIY SSD addition. It is fine for almost everything. But... I want a tablet-laptop convertible with Mac OS. And I am pretty sure that Apple won't make one.

    Asus Taichi - installing Mavericks

I've been playing around a bit more with this thing. I found out that if I put one of those lines that are meant for LVDS instead of one of those lines for Dsiplayport/HDMI it casues a bit different response. It still doesn't work but the main display flashes a few times before displaying a...

    Asus Taichi - installing Mavericks

What I find strange is that the internal screen stops working if I modify the "LVDS line". Even though the intel windows drivers list the display as displayport not LVDS. Another thing that I find weird is that the external screen works if I boot with the laptop closed until the graphics...

Yes I did. Both of those things.

    Asus Taichi - installing Mavericks

Ok. I used that script, installed the kext and changed my id to 4 instead of 9. The thing did not boot.

    Asus Taichi - installing Mavericks

No I haven't. This one seems quite a bit longer than I am used to. But it doesn't do me much good if it is for platform id 01660004. That would probably require modifying it and I don't really know how.

    Asus Taichi - installing Mavericks

I've gone through a bunch of different port configurations in the table. Anything that I do makes no difference. The only change that happens is if I modify the first line (the one that is meant for LVDS). If I change that one then it usually breaks the main screen (random lines and stuff like...

    Asus Taichi - installing Mavericks

But I am guessing that some of the data is understood. So I understand this correctly: 02 05 00 00 00 04 00 00 07 01 00 00 02 05 represents the hardware connector? And that these values shouldn't be changed. 00 04 represents the type of the connection? DVI/DP/HDMI? Or am I getting this wrong?

    Asus Taichi - installing Mavericks

Nothing that I did seemed to work so I did a fresh install. Back to square one apparently. I still don't get this framebuffer patching entirely. I know that I need to edit those three "lines" in the connector table. I just don't get it which ones I need to edit and to what.

    Asus Taichi - installing Mavericks

Getting the ability to log in back to GUI. As I mentioned before - I can't log in for some reason. I get the login screen but when I enter my password the screen flashes gray and returns me back to the login screen. This happened after my last kext edit so I am guessing that it is somehow...

    Asus Taichi - installing Mavericks

Well, I've used this to make the edits: http://forum.osxlatitude.com/index.php?/topic/2945-guide-for-enabling-vga-and-hdmi-in-intel-hd4000-gpu/ And I've searched for other guides as well. None of them seem to offer anything useful for restoring previous state.

    Asus Taichi - installing Mavericks

I had some fun patching that connector table right now. Bad things happened. My first try didn't change anything. My second try (I modified the LVDS line) resulted in the system failing to boot to UI. I restored the original kext and tried again. This time the UI launched and I got the login...

    Asus Taichi - installing Mavericks

One screen is shown as DisplayPort and the other as Internal DisplayPort. And I can't connect anything to the HDMi because it uses micro-HDMI (or whatever it is called) and I don't have an adapter. I tried using the VGA port. This one disables the tablet screen. I got the touchpad to work a...

    Asus Taichi - installing Mavericks

I installed Windows just now. Interesting thing about the screens. They work with clean windows 8 install. No special drivers or anything. They are both recognized as Generic PnP monitor. Intel HD4000 control panel calls one "Digital screen" and the other "Internal screen". I am guessing it uses...

    Asus Taichi - installing Mavericks

Great! We are moving forward. Brightness fix was successful. Wireless drivers now work as well (didn't know that about USB cards). Internal one is not supported as far as I know - Intel Centrino advanced-n 6235. I'm currently installing Windows 8 and will continue with everything tomorrow.

    Asus Taichi - installing Mavericks

Sounds like "fun". I don't think it is worth it until I get everything else working. Though it is tempting since the touchscreen seems to work - pen input works. And it would be great to have mac os tablet. And my to-do list seems to be getting longer and longer. - screen brightness settings -...

    Asus Taichi - installing Mavericks

I am not exactly sure how asus have done it. But in windows it can do anything. It can actually be an external display (two screens showing different things using standard desktop extension) or it can do mirroring. Or it can only use one of them. There is an "external screen off" switch on the...

    Asus Taichi - installing Mavericks

Technically you said to move the file there not rename it. Thank for the USB thing. It is working now. Moving on.... I probably need some kext or something for power management. It says that battery charge is 0% (even if it is running on battery). Any chances of getting the external display...
