Asus Taichi - installing Mavericks

I've gone through a bunch of different port configurations in the table. Anything that I do makes no difference. The only change that happens is if I modify the first line (the one that is meant for LVDS). If I change that one then it usually breaks the main screen (random lines and stuff like that). Anything else doesn't seem to do anything.

Probably the main screen is LVDS...

Did you already try the standard ProBook patch for external monitors and HD4000 high resolution:

Code:
perl -pi -e 's|\x04\x00\x00\x81.{107}\x04\x00\x66\x01.{108}|\x08\x00\x00\x06\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x02\x00\x11\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x04\x00\x66\x01\x01\x02\x04\x02\x00\x00\x00\x04\x00\x00\x00\x01\x00\x00\x00\x40\x10\x07\x00\x00\x10\x07\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x05\x03\x00\x00\x02\x00\x00\x00\x30\x02\x00\x00\x02\x05\x00\x00\x00\x04\x00\x00\x07\x04\x00\x00\x03\x04\x00\x00\x00\x04\x00\x00\x81\x00\x00\x00\x04\x06\x00\x00\x00\x08\x00\x00\x06\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x02\x00\x11\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00|' ./patched/AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleIntelFramebufferCapri

Above patch is intended to use ig-platform-id 01660004.

No I haven't. This one seems quite a bit longer than I am used to. But it doesn't do me much good if it is for platform id 01660004. That would probably require modifying it and I don't really know how.

Ok. I used that script, installed the kext and changed my id to 4 instead of 9. The thing did not boot.

Well that answers that question...

Did you verify that the patch was successful (md5 of the binary changed)? Did you repair permissions & rebuild cache?

Yes I did. Both of those things.

What I find strange is that the internal screen stops working if I modify the "LVDS line". Even though the intel windows drivers list the display as displayport not LVDS.

Another thing that I find weird is that the external screen works if I boot with the laptop closed until the graphics drivers kick in (at the login screen). Then it goes blank but backlight stays on.

Another thing that I noticed in windows. A keyboard button dedicated to screen switching lights up when both screens are active. Even when there are no drivers installed. It doesn't do anything without drivers but it lights up.

I've been playing around a bit more with this thing. I found out that if I put one of those lines that are meant for LVDS instead of one of those lines for Dsiplayport/HDMI it casues a bit different response. It still doesn't work but the main display flashes a few times before displaying a picture. And if I click the "detect displays" option, the button freezes for a few seconds. I don't know if that means anything or not. It would be logical for the other display to use LVDS as well.

But this is getting frustrating. This laptop is perfect in all regards. The only thing not perfect is the fact that it doesn't run Mac OS.
