Thanks!

Worked pretty well. Changing the system def for the iMessage fix borked my graphics for a moment (I think I did something wrong), but I put that all back together.

This thread gave me the confidence to go ahead and swap out the mobo/cpu on my old Z68X build. Been following along, so far so good.

I also got stuck briefly getting the nvidia web drivers for my GTX 960 to activate until I added the EmuVariableUefi-64 driver using Clover Configurator.

Thanx ALMart!!
Followed your guide to the letter, everything working!
Have not tried the usb-c, will post if I ever have a usb-c device.

Have not fixed Imessage because I don't care. Safari passwords are not synced.
Icloud files, safari bookmarks, photos, notes, calendar are fully synced.

TS, thank you for your comprehensive detail steps.
I have exactly the same spec as you do and I followed your steps and I managed to get everything working, including wake up from sleep (my monitor turned on with mouse move or keyboard).
There are a few differences though from your steps:
  • I didn't update my bios because mine is already F22
  • The macOS Sierra that I downloaded is already 10.12.3, so I use different alternate NVIDIA driver
  • After following the An iDiot's Guide To iMessage, my iMessage didn't work immediately as indicated in the last step that the ROM is failed in the iMessageDebug.txt. So I have to install EmuVariableUefi-64 with Clover and delete the caches and preferences files again. After that, it works like a charm.

FWIW, I have a similar build but have to use a trick to get my Thunderbolt to Firewire cord to work.

1) Plug it into the back with the system off.
2) Boot into Windows.
3) Reboot into OSX (do not shut down)
4) Firewire is recognized even if no Thunderbolt devices are listed

I have a ud3 ultra as well, and I cannot get all the USB ports to work on either Sierra, or El Capitan. The mouse works on the 2.0 and 3.0 ports, but other devices only work on the 2.0 ports, and nothing works on the red 3.1 port. What is your setup to get usb working? What kexts, config file, bios settings etc? I am also on f22

Good question, after I had a success in the first place, my power supply broke down (probably due to power surge). I had to replace the power supply and now after replacing it, I lost bluetooth detection, USB 3.1 red port is not working. I'm still trying to figure out if this is related to the power surge that brought down my PSU or I messed up with something. It'd be great if TS or whoever that has this mobo USB working can share his USB aml file.

To get the USB 3.0 ports to work on Sierra with a Gigabyte Z170 board, you need to use the Increase Max Port Limit under Drivers > USB in Multibeast. You also need to add or select '3rd Party USB 3.0'. Install those along with your current Multibeast setup and it should work.

As for the USB 3.1 I don't know as I haven't tried it. But I assume the TB firmware update from Gigabyte may help somewhat with the activation.
