[Solved] RX 580 Gives Black Screen When Updating to 10.13.4

It's good to know that the simple substitution is a fix. As long as you haven't seen any degradation in performance, then that very well may be the better way. I am wondering why all of a sudden it changed? I use two other RX580 cards on a GA-Z170X-UD4 board and one on a GA-Z270X-Gaming 5...

[Solved] RX 580 Gives Black Screen When Updating to 10.13.4

I have been trying to hash this out on a Gigabyte Z170X-Gaming 5 motherboard, for which I have used a system definition of 17,1 for High Sierra and have a Pulse RX580 8Gb card that had worked just fine in 10.13.3. When I upgraded to 10.13.4, it initially worked until this past weekend I got it...

    macOS 10.13.4 Security Update

Did you applly the necessary patch? Mine got hosed also. BUT, this is a known issue. I added this code to my config.plist and everything worked fine. I added it at the end of all the port number increase patches and it worked. I assume you know to only copy between the code starting with...

Powercooler RX580 Red Devil RX580 8Gb is compatible with High Sierra

I do some video encoding, so I was hoping the extra speed would be useful. Plus, I wanted to future proof these somewhat. I know video cards are crazy expensive right now due to the bitcoin miners buying up all the cards, but I want to keep these a few years, so I went on the faster side of...

Powercooler RX580 Red Devil RX580 8Gb is compatible with High Sierra

Upgrading was SUCH a pain with the Nvidia drivers that is precisely why I switched. Plus, the Nvidia drivers with 10.13.3 visibly slowed down the computer. Even the stock drivers appear to be progressively sluggish. My wife's GA-Z68XP-UD4 board with a natively supported Nvidia card (660...

Powercooler RX580 Red Devil RX580 8Gb is compatible with High Sierra

Yes. I uninstalled them after I rebooted. The drivers had no effect when there, but I kept getting a message that the default drivers were installed, so I just got rid of them.

Powercooler RX580 Red Devil RX580 8Gb is compatible with High Sierra

I'm fairly new to the RX580 cards, but all I did to transition from a 1060 card, was to backup my config.plist file from /E/E/C/ directory. I wanted to keep the same SMBIOS system definition. Then I reran Multibeast 10.2.0 and reinstalled Clover so that all the Nvidia flags were removed. I...

Powercooler RX580 Red Devil RX580 8Gb is compatible with High Sierra

Here are the results from Geekbench and Cinebench. I don't use these much, so these are for reference without comment as I really don't know how good or bad they are in technical terms.

Powercooler RX580 Red Devil RX580 8Gb is compatible with High Sierra

I have seen this question asked a lot, and lots of suggestions regarding a "just compatible" card for High Sierra. I have read endless posts regarding problems with installation. I have used Nvidia cards for a long time now and still have the old compatible AMD cards, which do work, but are...

    GTX 760 - Sierra issues

I know this is an older thread and related to Sierra, but on High Sierra (just in case anyone finds this), I had this same problem on three mother boards (2x GA-Z68XP-UD4 and 1x GA-Z77X-UP5 TH) and got it to work by removing the nv_disable=1 parameter from clover bootup options. Otherwise the...

    macOS 10.13.2 Update

This may not help you at all, but yesterday I was installing Sierra (yes, I know it's not High Sierra) on an older system and for the life of me I could NOT get the network drivers to work using Multibeast to install them. So I downloaded the kexts manually and got them to work two different...

NVIDIA Releases Alternate Graphics Drivers for macOS High Sierra 10.13.1 (378.10.10.10.20)

Man, that script of yours just keeps getting better and better. Thanks a ton for the work on it. I just used it to install a fresh set of drivers on a new GA-Z270X-Gaming 5 motherboard and a GTX 1060 and went smooth as silk.

Reboot loop after NVIDIA drivers installation

This thread will help you immensely. I just went through on my setup. It sounds like you are getting the black screen on bootup problem, which is relatively easy to fix. There is a LOT of misinformation on how to set all this up, but the information on Tonymacs thread was the right way...

NVIDIA Releases Alternate Graphics Drivers for macOS High Sierra 10.13.1 (378.10.10.10.20)

Does your card work? The script, as noted, does not install the control panel. But if the card is giving you high quality graphics, everything is okay.
