    Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H - can't boot without -x flag

Any other ideas? Or places to start looking?

    Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H - can't boot without -x flag

Thanks for the reply. I'm using the on-board graphics, at least for know, and they have worked in the past with Mountain Lion (though they stopped for reasons I was never able to figure out). But if that's the next thing to load, that at least gives an indication of where the problem might be...

    Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H - can't boot without -x flag

I'm trying to install OS X Mavericks on my Z77X-UD5H-based system (other specs as noted to the side), and I haven't been able to make it boot without the -x flag. This is a clean install (once I get this working, I plan to go back and upgrade a previous installation of Mountain Lion, but first...

System won't boot completely after moving

Not seeing any other suggestions, in this thread or elsewhere, I decided to try reinstalling. I downloaded UniBeast 1.7.0 from here, and used a fresh download of Mountain Lion (presumably 10.8.3) to create a bootable USB flash drive, and was able to install it on the machine's SSD without...

System won't boot completely after moving

OK, I booted using the UniBeast USB drive (I can't get to the boot menu any more from the hard drive). Using -v -x as the boot options, the last thing that comes up on the console is this, repeated four times: HDAEnabler: Copyright (c) 2008 by Kabyl HDAEnabler: 05/05/2008 Added SP-Audio...

System won't boot completely after moving

Several months ago, I built a Hackintosh system based on a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5 (UEFI/BIOS rev F8), i7-3770, 16 GB RAM, SSD for the OS, and onboard video. I installed Mountain Lion using the then-current UniBeast and MultiBeast packages. Everything worked perfectly. About two months ago, I...

    [success] z77x-ud5h-wifi

Is the -wifi board different than the non-wifi board? I set up ML on my z77x-ud5h (F8 BIOS) the other day, and audio works fine on the green port. Installed the Realtek 898 audio driver, IIRC (not at that computer right now to check).

    Monitor questions

Some of the other research I've done has indicated the same thing. However, the Catleap has only a dual-link DVI input. Can I use an adapter from DisplayPort to that? The listings on eBay tend to say no, but they also say integrated graphics won't work, it won't work with a Mac, etc.

Can't get USB Key to work

Was there a reason you didn't run UniBeast on the MBA? Or, in the alternative, download ML via the App Store on your Hack? I don't know that either of these would make a difference, but it's one thing I'm seeing as a difference from the recommended method.

    Monitor questions

Anyone? I guess a GeForce 640 card isn't too expensive, but I'd still rather save the $100 if I don't need it...

    Separate HDD for /Users?

Installed last night, and used the lnx2mac approach to mount the HDD at /Users. Worked perfectly. The drive itself seems to have failed overnight, which is annoying, but the method seems to work just fine. Thanks again for the help! Edit: I did have one quirk that was a little annoying...

    Monitor questions

I've been out of the PC-building loop for a few years, and am now building up a Hackintosh system based on the suggestions from the Custom Mac guide here. I'm finding the 27" IPS screens (like the Catleap, etc.) quite appealing, but thinking about keeping my existing 22" generic monitor as...

    Need help with parts!!!

Your parts list there includes 64 GB of RAM, in 8 ea., 8 GB modules. Did you mean to do that? You could save yourself a fair bit of change (since you indicate that budget is a constraint) by reducing this.

Installing ML on SSD but storing files on HDD

Here's another method: http://lnx2mac.blogspot.com/2010/09/moving-os-x-users-to-separate-partition.html Just saw this on my thread from last night asking the same question. Haven't tried it yet, but it looks like it should work. I like that it puts the large drive on /Users, so anything...

    Separate HDD for /Users?

The lnx2mac approach looks like exactly what was looking for. Thanks!
