[solved] clover failing to update

clover failing to update

I only have one EFI folder and one instance of clover boot loader now after deleting the other EFI folder, I have to assume thats the one being used, I guess to verify I would know as when I tested earlier booting from EFI file on that drive, the theme was different to the older one, it is now always booting the newer theme.

I may have confused matters slightly, I was originally seeing version 2999 of clover booting.
booting from the correct EFI file saw the current version boot 3176. 3185 is the latest revision available to install, but it fails to do so.

In every instance, install for UEFI only has always been checked, and remains checked whenever I run the installer again, along with other options, which I thought were always remembered, as I stated before, and I think you are confirming.

The problem with the incorrect clover version loading is gone, since I corrected the bios to boot from the SSD first, not the HDD, it is simply not updating now.

options checked in clover installer (not altered by me, perhaps default as you suggest and not the correct options checked, I cannot compare to what the PBI checks as it doesn't show the options, just updates clover)

Install location
Disk: OSX
Device: disk0s2
Size 127Gb (confirms SSD)
System: Mac OS X 10.10.2
Build: 14c109

these are ticked>>

Install for UEFI booting only (upgrade)
Install clover in the ESP (upgrade)
Drivers64UEFI > OSXaptiofixDrv-64 (upgrade)
Install RC scripts on target volume (upgrade)
Install clover preference pane (upgrade)

I don't see how I can do anything else to ensure the install is going to the correct EFI location, deleted unwanted one, corrected boot sequence, selecting the correct drive in installer, confirmed by device number and size.

Of course, I could very well have the wrong options checked, could you please confirm?

Do you mean the installer is failing?

It does remember your settings from before, but I never trust it and always click on "Custom" to verify it will install what I expect.

Are you certain you're not installing to the other disk? Have you looked at the EFI partition there since you deleted the EFI folder from there?

clover failing to update

Installer doesn't fail, says it has completed successfully..

Ive checked the custom setting on the installer, but, other than looking whats checked, I do not know 100% if its correct or not, Ive listed above what is checked, its the same every time.

The other EFI folder remains empty.

Perhaps you're not using the Clover installer version you think you are...

Remove the existing Clover binaries before running the installer. (eg. EFI/BOOT/BOOTX64.EFI and EFI/Clover/CLOVERX64.efi). Then you'll know if the Clover installer is placing them there or not.

Just something I should note about your versions. I would not recommend updating to Clover v2.3k. The 3k version should be considered experimental (and is likely full of bugs).

The latest version of Clover 2k is v3140 (built from sources). At least that's what I have from a recent build using Clover Grower Pro. Perhaps it is buggered. With projectosx down, there is a lack of Clover information from the Clover team.

Edit: Now I see it... Proceed with caution.

FWIW, I had no issue updating my desktop to v2.3k r3185.

Confirmed update at Clover GUI, Clover bootlog.

Also Clover_Install_Log.txt:
Code:
Clover EFI installer log - Sat Feb 21 11:35:52 PST 2015
Installer version: [B]v2.3k r3185[/B] EFI bootloader
======================================================

Make sure you're running the pkg you think you are...

Check your Clover bootlog. Ignore Clover Configurator. It can't be trusted.

Note: I've never used PBI-CE nor Clover Configurator to install Clover. I always use the official Clover installer. Could be related?

Also note: I'm never using the downloads of Clover from sourceforge. Always self-built Clover from source using Clover Grower Pro.

2:183 0:000 Now is 21.2.2015, 19:32:9 (GMT+2047)
2:183 0:000 Starting Clover rev 3176:3182 on CLOVER EFI

i downloaded the installer from official sourceforge.http://sourceforge.net/projects/cloverefiboot/

edit: i can't build from clovergrower because it needs xcode which i don't have :(

It is a problem (or intentional) with that build. That is exactly the binary that is installed, as that is the binary that you're downloading (within the pkg) from sourceforge.

Note:
Code:
Speedy-OSX:clover.git RehabMan$ strings /Volumes/EFI0/EFI/CLOVER/CLOVERX64.efi | grep -y "Clover revision"
Clover revision: 3176:3182

Nothing is wrong. The assertion that it is "failing to update" is false.

Note: The same conclusion could have been drawn by doing what I said in post #34.

Xcode is free.
