Hi there

Where i've found it quite easy to boot Mavericks onto my Asus and Dell Latitude, I am completely stuck with getting MacOS Mavericks onto my brand new Dell XPS 13 (2014) model. None of my boot args seems to prevent a sudden reset once all the kexts are loaded in verbose mode. I can't capture the reset error either (too quick).

I have 10.9.4 Boot disk made from Unibeast, and tried both Laptop and non-Laptop create options.

My specs:

Core i7-4650U
8GB RAM
512GB Liteon SSD
Intel HD 5000 Graphics

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Dave

Guys, thanks for the options. I am going to get busy reading and applying these posts and will update on progress.

Thanks

Ok, still having issues, but managed to get an install done using Unibeast with kext patch. can't boot after that no matter what. Wondering if it is because my Unibeast is on Mavericks 10.9.4 and not 10.9.2 ??

Anyway, tried the clover approach as suggested here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/mavericks...-how-install-os-x-mavericks-using-clover.html

Seems to want to boot, don't get any reboots but get the system hangs at this line:

AppleLMUController::smReadyKey received error 0x##

I only have FakeSMC and NullCPUPowerManagement kexts in the Clover setup.. FakeSMC I got from TonyMac link.. not sure if this is causing the issue?

Probably an issue with your config.plist... You're reading a desktop guide for Clover. Laptops are different.

Use this guide for clues: http://www.tonymacx86.com/hp-probook-mavericks/112383-guide-install-mavericks-clover-bootloader.html

Please provide complete details in your profile/signature
(Profile/Settings link in upper right corner of this site)

System: manufacturer/model
CPU: detailed CPU model + motherboard chipset
Graphics: all graphics devices + laptop internal screen resolution

For example, typical Ivy laptop:
System: HP ProBook 4540s
CPU: i5-3320m/HM76
Graphics: HD4000, 1366x768

Use CPU-Z on Windows to find CPU (Core iX-xxx) and motherboard chipset (HMxx). For a laptop, these details are important and affect critical installation procedures.

Thanks again RehabMan.

Updated my profile with the laptop info. In short:

Laptop: Dell XPS 13 9333 |
CPU: Core i7-4650U |
Chipset: Haswell-ULT S/Bridge ID9C43 |
Model: 0D13CL |
Graphics: Intel HD 5000 | 1920x1080
Bios: A04 |
RAM: 8GB DDR3 |
HDD: LiteOn 512GB SSD

Will look into the Clover link you posted now.

Something else to mention. I have created the installer in Legacy mode - not sure if I should try UEFI as well.

You should use UEFI. No reason to use legacy with modern computers.

Ok, small progress...

I setup USB Installation to UEFI using this post as suggested previously: http://www.tonymacx86.com/hp-probook-mavericks/112383-guide-install-mavericks-clover-bootloader.html

Then I took the config.plist from here: https://github.com/vbourachot/Dell-XPS13-9333-DSDT-Patch

I managed to boot into the installer, but my HD 5000 Graphics seems to be the problem now (see attached).

Having used Chemeleon bootloader mostly, are there any boot args I need to add to fix the graphics?

Current Boot Args (Using Clover): dart=0 -gux_defer_usb2

Thanks
