[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Are all macOS disks physically disconnected from the system?
I followed this video.
When the Windows installer starts it gives you the option to create and erase partitions. We should erase all partitions on the Windows disk except the EFI partition. Do you recall doing this?
Yes. I have done that. But it did not work. I followed this video.
Now Windows is installing, but I am afraid I deleted the EFI partition also. Is that very bad?

Is the IntelBluetoothFirmware better supported than the OpenIntelWireless ?
And is it possible to use the native Bluetooth without the native wifi under Big Sur ?
The IntelBluetoothFirmware is farther along than OpenIntelWireless, but still not perfect. Yes, it's possible to mix and match:
  • Add port HS14 in the USB SSDT to enable Intel Bluetooth. This is a simple modification to the USB SSDT.
  • Physically disconnect USB data cable from the Fenvi FV-T919 to disable Broadcom Bluetooth.
  • Install the IntelBluetoothFirmware kexts (there are two of them); simply refer to the developer's website on GitHub.
  • Do not ask me to hand hold you through the process! :) I do not recommend using those kexts on a daily basis. If you do, please contact the developer for all issues.
Hi @CaseySJ.
Is the F_AUDIO (Front Panel Audio Header) somehow disabled?
I cannot get it to work.
If System Preferences --> Sound contains entries for the on-board audio ports then audio is working correctly. Please double-check the OpenCore configuration. You can download a fresh copy from the OpenCore 0.6.5 mini-guide in this thread and compare it against yours.

When you deleted the large FAT32 partition, did it change to Unallocated Space? Then you clicked on that unallocated space and clicked Next?

If you deleted the EFI partition, it should still be okay. Windows will install its bootloader somewhere on the same disk (MBR or who-knows-where). As long as no other drives were present in the system at that time, you should be okay.

So I did what the youtube video recommended. Windows installed, all is good. In the Clover menu, I now have 5 or 6 NTFS disks to choose from. Havent tried them yet. But if I press F12 at startup and choose the Windows disk it boots Win10. Had to do a couple of restarts on the Mac OS disk after I assembled the machine back together again, but the Mac OS disk also works fine now. Mission somewhat accomplished I guess. It would be cool to not have to press F12 at startup. I m happy for now.

Many thanks to CaseySJ and everyone that replied to my original post about this!

Next mission is to update from Mojave to Catalina. You probably havent heard the last from me :p

Watch it be underpowered and horribly priced, much like the current Mac Pro that ships with an RX580 for $6000! This is one of the reasons why I got forced into building a Hackintosh and damn proud of it.
M1X or M2X processors will not be under-powered. Today's entry level MacBook Air (even without a fan) already puts the 16" MacBook Pro to shame in many many tasks. Computational power, thankfully, is not on my worry list.

Price, however, remains on my worry list.

Because the rumor suggests two new form factors, it is entirely possible that the smaller of the two will offer an appealing entry price.

let's see if apple solves this :beachball:

i sent now
Today I received a Radeon RX 5600 XT for my AMD B550 Vision D, which is configured as follows:
  • System Name: iMacPro1,1
  • MacOS Version: 11.2 Public Beta 2 (build 20D5042d)
  • GPU: ASRock Challenger Pro Radeon RX 5600 XT
With this combination I can edit your photo without any problem! Not sure if this is because of (a) system name iMacPro1,1 or (b) macOS 11.2 Beta 2.

UPDATE: Even more good news! After updating my Z390 Designare to macOS 11.2 beta (build 20D5042d) the Photos app now works properly with RX 5700 XT! The same image can be edited the same way as before without crashing. Apple has fixed the bug!

The current Mac Pro should've been priced at around $3000-$3500 with its base configuration. People go that route because of the expandability that it offers. But $6000 for the base model is a joke.

If the smaller form factor Mac Pro does become reality with a much more affordable entry price, I hope it doesn't come at the cost of expandability. But considering Apple's current track record, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets completely locked down. Just look at the 2020 iMac where you can't even add an NVMe drive anymore. Or even the M1 Mac mini that doesn't give the option to for RAM or storage upgrades post purchase.

Somehow, unless Apple can drop the 'center-of-universe' and 're-invent everything' mentality, we probably will see everything is locked/soldered without allowing customers to touch it. To apple's defense, some devices need to be designed like that but not pro-level workstation.
