[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I think this question got lost in the stream of other questions, so please allow me to ask again:

I'm sorry if this has been brought up earlier, but I removed my BCM94360CS2 add-in card in favor of the IntelBluetoothFirmware kernel extension and it works like a charm - except I'm no longer able to use my Bluetooth keyboard/mouse in the Clover bootloader as well as in BIOS. Based on my very limited understanding of the matter, the BCM94360CS2 supported HID Proxy Mode which enabled it to work in the Clover bootloader, and I'm wondering if the Intel chip doesn't. Is there anyone here who have had success with using IntelBluetoothFirmware and having support for Bluetooth peripherals in the bootloader?

@CaseySJ Thank you very much, i tried both firmware files, but my egpu (Razer Core X with an RX 5700XT) doesn't get recognized, just the same with my external nvme storage device.

Here is my EFI and the ioreg from the MOD2 firmware.

Please try the attached config.plist (backup the existing one and copy serial number, MLB, and system UUID into the new one before using).

At the OpenCore Picker, perform a Reset NVRAM on the first boot with the new config.plist. When the system restarts, boot normally into Catalina.

It is also possible that OpenCore does not like the Western Digital SN750...
Hi @CaseySJ - thanks again for this. I have tried your config.plist several times now but with no joy unfortunately. Multiple NVRAM resets and still the same - stuck at the Apple Logo.

If it is the WD SN750 that it doesn't like - do other kexts or patches exist do you know? It boots and runs perfectly on Clover and has done since day 1 of the build.

Hey @CaseySJ, thank you for this thread and all efforts.

I need your help.

A friend of mine asked for help with configuring his new GC-Titan Ridge v2.0 on his hack:
ASUS Z170-A, i7 6700, GTX750Ti, High Sierra 10.13.6.

I've flashed the modded bios (NVM50) and did SSDT via HackinDROM.
But it's not working for some reason, although the Thunderbolt tab in the System Report and IOreg are OK.

I've checked it on my X299 build and everything is OK.

I've attached the IOReg, SSDT, EFI folder (w/o themes folder, and w/o both SSDT in ACPI folder), screenshots w/ TB settings from BIOS.

@CaseySJ This is the ioreg with the original unmod rom. I am guessing the port might be wrong? Can we try port 3? Also, how did you modify the rom. I checked with hex, it seems they're different from this guide.

If eGPU works with the original unmodified firmware, then why would you want to modify the firmware? In other words, if it ain't broke, why fix it? On Alpine Ridge systems we can enable Thunderbolt Bus with an SSDT, without modifying the firmware. But as always, not everything will work.

Port 3 is not correct. We've already established that Port 5 is correct.

As far as I know, OpenIntelWireless drivers will not allow Bluetooth devices to work in BIOS or Clover Boot Menu. Please report this to the OpenIntelWireless team on GitHub (but search their site first to ensure it has not already been reported). Click here to see currently logged issues.

Thunderbolt Bus is activated and Thunderbolt Switch is also properly enabled. However, you are right that nothing is appearing on DSB1 (Thunderbolt Port 1). Have you tried:
  • Cold boot with eGPU attached?
  • Cold boot with eGPU attached followed by a restart?
  • Hot-plug the eGPU?
  • BIOS --> CSM Support --> Enable?

Please do the following:
  • Boot using Clover and post the following:
    • Screenshot of /Library/Extensions folder.
    • Output of this command in Terminal: kextstat | grep -v apple.
    • Screenshot of CLOVER/kexts/Other
    • Screenshot of Clover Configurator --> Kernel and Kext Patches
  • In OpenCore Configurator --> Kernel, disable NVMeFix.kext if you haven't tried that already. Then reboot with OpenCore to see how far it boots.

Please try the attached SSDT instead. Fixed 2 typos:

Damn! It seems I need a new pair of glasses.
Thank you. Now it's working as it should.
