[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Greetings to all !
Use this EFI folder, you should only need to add your Serial Numbers to config.plist to get a fully functional stable system.

Have you shut it down or restarted it yet? (If you haven't, don't unless you have a bootable EFI stick around.) Mount the system's EFI and see if it's got anything in there like the image in my post right above this one.

@jiffyslot I have indeed shutdown, restarted, installed the battery of needed software packages, authorizations, backups ect...

In hind-sight, the only relavent issue was not getting the EFI script in CCC to work as part of the backup process.
I just copied the EFI folder manually and insured that the backup booted.

Ok, so I did reset CMOS multiple times over past two weeks (jumper method and no battery method).

BTW: Is it normal in Z390 Designare mobo, that after CMOS reset at its first start it has to "restart" two or three times before load the Gigabyte screen? It looks like "auto power off-on" - the fans and LEDs are down and up after second or two. It takes all about 20 - 25 seconds after first pressing the power button, and was the same at VERY FIRST run of it. Next boot is faster and I didn't noticed any such behavior.
Yes that is normal.
Below I attach my EFI folder ('themes' and 'tools' folders deleted) and dare to ask you to check it.
CLOVER folder shows many missing files in ACPI/patched and several missing/unnecessary drivers in kexts/Other. To use iGPU for video (because you're not using AMD GPU) it's necessary to add the HDMI patch described in Going the Extra Mile.

What files are in /Library/Extensions? After copying files into this folder, was Kext Utility run in order to rebuild kernel caches?

Because of new restrictions in Catalina, it's actually better to install all Hackintosh kexts in CLOVER/kexts/Other even when installing Mojave. This simplifies future upgrades.

It would be good to review this post, which allows you to create a new USB boot disk (not USB install disk). Just skip the steps related to downloading and copying the macOS installer.

Yes the multiple-start / stop cycle is normal.

Hi, for learning and testing purpose, I have installed Catalina with OpenCore and it works perfectly (at first glance). I'm really excited because I thought OpenCore was out of my reach. I don't have much experience or knowledge. So I want to thank you for the excellent OpenCore mini guide.

The question I have is from total beginner: where is the Catalina operating system on the OpenCore USB installer? I can't find it anywhere!

Also I want to ask, and sorry for the off topic, if this guide would fit well with an aorus pro z390 mobo. If not, do you know of any recommended settings similar to the guide for the Designare z390?

I did a mistake (OpenCore configurator doesn't save de config.plis properly. Now I'm using ProperTree tool) and the second try was not so good. Now I'm following the official guide to build the USB installer and use the EFI folder created with de OpenCore mini guide. I Think this is the right way.

The OpenCore Mini-Guide was not originally intended for fresh installation, but it can certainly be used for that if we first perform Step 1, Bullets 1, 2, and 3 from here:
...and then use the OpenCore Mini-Guide, which is not intended for beginners (as stated at the very top of the guide). In other words, the OpenCore Mini-Guide assumes that the reader can figure everything else by themselves. It just focuses on configuring the OpenCore EFI folder.

@CaseySJ Thanks a lot for your fab guide to patch the Titan Ridge! djlild7hina guided me to your great posts and I'm happy I managed to get so far so thank you both! It worked flashing, It's loading up and all working great including the hotplug.

I was really hoping with this patching would do some magic to help my obsession :))
I have a CalDigit connected and another OWC 5Bay raid hooked trough the CalDigit. I want these devices to cold boot with the machine. Instead I have to unplug and plug back in to load each time I power on.

Any idea what chances are to make this work? For example if I connect the CalDigit dock with the drive in my MBP it starts from the cold boot as soon as the os reaches 50% of the boot.

BTW, if anyone has my hardware or same MB, this Open Core works great! I've cleared SN so just need to replace those.

Thanks!
I have a CalDitit TS3 Plus I use with my patched GC-TitanRidge card. The only way I get it to consistently work on boot is to change Thunderbolt settings in BIOS. Change boot support from "disabled" to "boot once".

Ok, thank you for clarification, that's how I understood it after some attempts. Finally I have OpenCore installation running smoothly on Designare mobo. No problems at all at first glance.
