[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Yes, sorry, 10.15.2. Edit_ actually I think it was 10.15.1, no?

Tested with -wegoff and just one monitor, but still freezes. I suppose it’s an OS or general hackintosh issue. If I use an older monitor that’s just native 1080p and DVI only, my issues disappear.
The new OpenCore 0.5.7 seems to have fixed this problem.
If you can, try the new version. For my motherboard, there is currently no OpenCore (Z390 from ASUS).

The developers announce the change "Fixed PowerTimeoutKernelPanic on 10.15.4." This can solve the problem.

I will give opencore a try I think. It’s the future I guess.

I've been away for a while and noticed an awful lot of what I would consider fairly high end stuff regarding THUNDERBOLT 3 and modifying one of the chips. Just a few questions regarding the z390 Designare:

1) Why is this modification being done?
2) I thought Thunderbolt was working properly but I don't have any thunderbolt devices as of yet. Planning on getting MOTU audio devices. Is there an issue with audio devices and Thunderbolt?
3) This seems to be a non-mandatory modification. What works vs what doesn't work with this mod?

Thanks, Mark

Apologies- I thought the quote ref was for other forums outside TM86!,
Hello

System - vanilla build.
GA Designare Rev1.0 Z390. Bios F8
i9-9900k
Alphacool Disbar
32 GB Corsair LPX (2 x 16) in slots
Samsung Evo 970 500GB NVME M.2 in upper m2m slo
No Graphics card using iGPU HDMI - may use an RX570 when up and running
Power Corsair 850i
Corsair 750d Case (size of small house!)

Following your guide to unlock my MSR and having some problems

1) following the instructions on formatting the USB, didn't create an EFI part ion. Tried a couple of USB's but no luck. I could see the disk in top window of Clover Config' but there was no efi to mount. So I took an old installer and removed the EFI folders and replaced with your NSR EFI zip.

That worked and attached is my output, I got slightly different numbers to yourself although I am on BIOS F9 on a recently purchased board.

I have been suffering the "Can't allocate runtime....Type 2" errors and came across your very detailed guide. Any help would appreciated.

TIA

Hi, CaseySJ! 1 or 2 months back I followed this guide and successfully built my hackintosh. It's been running successful. But today I tried updating Lilu, Whatevergreen and AppleALC to the latest versions (as per 06/4/20). After rebooting the system, I am getting panics at the boot. I restarted several times, but still the same panic is coming.
I installed using the latest Hackintool, and I followed one guide in this website itself
"Deleted lilu, WhatereGreen and AppleALC from L/E and used to Hackintool to install and rebuild kextcache, then replaced those new kexts with the kexts in EFI folder of macOs partition.
I don't have a backup....Please help me

1) To bring the Thunderbolt 3 ports to work exactly like a real Mac.
2) I think someone already got MOTU interfaces working over TB3 on hackintosh. Currently known NOT working is Antelope Audio/Lynx(Lynx works on built in, but not AIC) devices. Currently known WORKING are UAD/Focusrite.
3) Without the flash - No Thunderbolt Networking, Hot-Swap can be intermittent, EGPUs and other video devices don't work at 100%. You can definitely get by with some devices on the current TB3 setup. for longevity and the ultimate end goal of being as close to a real mac as possible, having fully functioning mac side thunderbolt will achieve that.

Hey, @CaseySJ
OpenCore 0.5.7 is released. I wonder if there should be any updates to the Micro-Guide.
Yes I will update the OpenCore mini-guide for 0.5.7. This is a really good release because for the first time it provides a GUI boot menu that is modeled after Apple's own!

Mr Casey, in recognition of my gratitude for everything you bring us here, I want to share with you my satisfaction at being able to use my Sonnet eGpu with Vega 56 installed in addition to the discreet 5700.
Unfortunately, I cannot flash the thunderbolt chip due to the lack of appropriate equipment, but this result is already interesting.
Thanks again, I'm happy !!
A small screenshot to celebrate this !!
Hello @zgonda,

Just to confirm: The Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Box works with Designare Z390 without Thunderbolt firmware flashing?
