[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

  1. With UsbKbDxe.efi loaded can you still use your keyboard's arrow keys to choose an entry in the OC boot menu?
  2. Do you use Apple Watch to unlock by chance? With darkwake=0 my hack doesn't unlock with the watch, I have to use darkwake=10 for that (allows more time).
  1. Yes.
  2. No.

@hylkepylke @totototo I have the same issue. I had to remove UsbKbDxe.efi to be able to select an option, but now once I choose the MacOS partition, everything hangs immediately on the apple logo. I don't see any verbose text at all and no progress bar, so at this point I have no idea what is causing this.

Hi CaseySJ,
I have recently changed to Open Core NDK version due to compatibility problems with duel booting with windows 10. I followed your guide and did a fresh install. I have everything working except H264 and HVEC hardware acceleration. I think I need to inject the headless mode. If this is right how do you do it under Open Core. By the way great guide.
Yours Terry.

Yeah, it's not for pro recording purposes, but I was surprised by the quality. And that's from someone using a ULN-8/3D (and an AKG712 Pro headphone, I only use the hp out of the builtin audio for the occasional Spotify/Youtube playback)

Ooo a fellow MH user! ULN-8 is a beast, I’ll let you know on the performance on my OC system when my precious new RAM dimms arrive until this weekend.. can’t wait

@CaseySJ Hi! I'm looking to build this setup soon. I'm just wondering how would I go about cloning my current systems (hackintosh) boot drive within this setup? is it possible? My current hack is a 2015 build which is stuck on MacOS 10.12 due to the Nvidia driver issues (Z97X UD7 TH mobo LGA 1150, i7 4790K, GTX 970).

Thanks for all your help! Question, any guide somewhere for overclocking my system?
Thanks in advance.

So my Catalina 10.15.3, Z390 Designare, i9-9900K, Vega VII, 64GB is absolutely brilliant. Everything working 100% and blazing fast. The only features that do not seem to be available is handoff and Sidecar. iMessage and FaceTime perfect and native WiFi with Bluetooth is flawless (broadcom94360CS2)
Any clues as to why?

Today I updated AppleALC.kext from version 1.3.8 to version 1.4.6 and lost all audio. Anyone else had any experiences with this?

Similarly, updating to the latest Lilu (1.4.1) and WEG(1.3.6) caused a kernel panic on boot. Unfortunately I don't know if it was Lilu or WEG that used the panic as I didn't have time to test, sorry! I replaced the kexts in both /L/E/ and EFI/CLOVER/kexts/other, was this the right thing to do? I did repair permissions with kext utility.

I ended up with removing UsbKbDxe.efi and checking KeySupport under UEFI->Input. I have an Apple keyboard, and it works fine in OC boot menu.

  • Are you using Clover or OpenCore?
  • Have you copied SSDT-NVRAM.aml into the appropriate ACPI folder?

I'm using Clover version 5070
Yes, I'm sure I copied SSDT-NVRAM.aml into the appropriate ACPI folder

I just go back to emnvram, and update to 10.15.3, so far no issues. It looks native NVRAM having a lot of benefits, I may try it again in the future. Thanks.

Did that too per Opencore Vanilla Desktop Guide, but I'm still stuck at the Apple logo. This happens as soon as I choose the partition. As I never get the verbose output, I don't know what is causing this. For now, I'm booting in Clover again.
