Have you done this test? Run 'sudo nvram foo=bar' and then reboot. Run 'nvram -p | grep foo'. If there is no output, your NVRAM still isn't working. 'sudo nvram -d foo' to delete the test variable.

Appears to be working.

I'm thinking of installing windows to see if there are any issues there. If so it would suggest a hardware problem. Seriously doubt it though, I'm getting good benchmark test results. Only performance issue is HDMI audio.

Do you have a single DP out working with Whatevergreen uninstalled? Maybe, running like that, you could do the ACPI patch for HDAU using the old methods and see if the problem still occurs. Not sure if that would get you any closer to an actual fix, though.

Maybe the problem is related to not having a builtin audio device, just the HDMI. Is that how your system is set up? You said sound was giving you issues with sleep.

Hmm... My experiences with HDMI has been mediocre, at best... My DisplayPort to HDMI adaptors were never very helpful either.

Please try:
HDMI to HDMI cable.
Lower resolution to 1080p (low res, as in NOT HiDPI).

I installed applealc the other day (which gave me built in audio) and the hdmi audio dropouts persisted. When audio does drop out, I can put the computer to sleep and wake it up to fix the issue, but obviously that can get annoying.

The reason why I asked you to try 1080p was because I always had problems with HDMI where 4K@60Hz would be unstable. If it were able to boot with an image, it may work at start but eventually flicker or image would drop out completely and won't return until a restart. It's as if the HDMI cable were suffering from bandwidth issues and data would drop out.

That being said, when I lower the resolution to 1080p (non-HiDPI), everything is solid. But you continue to experience the HDMI audio drop out even on 1080p, so I guess this isn't your issue.

That makes alot of sense, the issue does seem related to what you're describing, as if the connection just can't handle the content and audio.
I did some research into my 4k lg TV that I'm using as a monitor with my hackintosh. Someone with a similar problem (who wasn't using a hackintosh, presumably using it with a games console) said LG recommended that they reset the TV as the av settings may have become corrupted. I followed the instructions and have had no drop outs for the last couple of hours with videos from youtube on in the background. It's possible that the timing of my upgrade to Radeon vii was just a coincidence and the real issue was with changing some setting on the monitor. Fingers crossed!

My gpu is showing as GFX0 in IOregistry. Given I have Lilu and WEG installed, is this normal?
