[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I wanted to take a moment and say Thank You to @CaseySJ and all the Hackintoshers present and past who have helped in this forum. You all are the bee's knees lMHO. (Aint going anywhere - just wanted to say thanks. haha.)

Thanks for troubleshooting and being the support to get my build up and running and working with no issues.

Unless I'm missing something I haven't found anything that isn't working. Feel free to ask me to test something I'm more than glad to try to find something that isn't working.

FULL PARTS LIST:
Case: NZXT H710
CPU: i7 9700k
Cooler: h100i
Ram: Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 64GB (4x16gb) 3200mhz
GPU: Sapphire Radeon RX 5700XT

Feel Free to post something to try more than willing. I can now say I have
1 main drive and 2 CCClones (1 Backup/ 1 Test)-
I had to learn the hard way the importance of having bootable backups.

You all as a community and everyone in this thread super DOPE

Yes I would like to ask a question my apologies if its been asked before, on the Magic keyboards et al, there are function keys like screen brightness, audio volume, play and pause controls in iTunes, F4 brings up recently used apps, F3 tiles the desktop.

Could you confirm if these work, or would work with an appropriate keyboard, Monitor ?

As the post below mentioned and from looking at different builds felt to get the most performance out of the GPU would be setting as iMac Pro 1,1 also had seen many mentions of iMac Pro 1,1 having less things needing to be tweaked to get working without issue.

As for Bootloader I am using newest Clover build, I made a 3rd CCC to test OpenCore, but from what I saw def need a little bit more knowledge than I've currently read thru so reading more then will most likely attempt.
Why do you ask?

As for sleep, I haven't tested extensively, I normally want access to the computer remotely or for Media server so the computer isn't set to sleep without me shutting down or putting to sleep outside of displays sleeping. When I have put it to sleep it will stay powered down I have noticed it sounds like it powers on but monitors or input don't kick unless I move the mouse to power it back on fully to lock screen.

Out of curiosity: Why did you make another clone to test OC instead of just installing the OC EFI folder on a spare usb drive and boot the regular drive through that? Does Clover install something on the system drive that you need to remove first?

You are welcome. This beast is built especially for video editing, for professional audio and also for complex graphics work. It's really hard to get Radeon VII now but I was lucky enough. Radeon VII is almost 2x better than Radeon RX Vega 56. BruceX test takes between 4 to 5 seconds. Latest Radeon VII firmware is recommended.

What tweaks are you making for professional audio apps and work ? I use thunderbolt Audio devices myself

Hello CaseySJ,

Sorry if I'm being a pain with this, I have had a read the two links regarding the Shiki patches and nowhere does it mention what the shikigva=32 is used for. shikigva=32 is what is preset if you follow the **Mini-guide for Direct Installation of Catalina 10.15.1 and Newer** The links for the Shiki patches mention the other boot arguments just not =32.

As I have a RX 5700 XT, should I perhaps be making mine =128 and changing my Mac in the SMBIOS to iMacPro1,1 as I briefly read somewhere in another post. Also will Shiki even work with the -wegoff argument in place? (-wegoff is in place to fix my random freeze issues)

I am having problems with the Apple TV app. When I begin to play an Apply TV+ series, it begins to show the video and then closes back to the main Apple TV menu. Just wondering if this might have something to do with Shiki?

iMacPro SMBIOS is recommended if you want to get maximum out of dedicated video card. IGPU should be disabled from BIOS on such case.

AMD GPU’s require an additional boot flag shikigva=128, which enables hardware FairPlay decoder.
Hey mate, is there a simple way of changing my SMBIOS to iMacPro1,1 from iMac19,1 without destroying my system? What do you see the benefits being in me doing this? I also have my Shikigva set to =32 (Not sure what 32 is for as I have read the compatibility charts for this and they mention nothing about (32)) Perhaps I need to change this to =128. (I have the RX 5700 XT GPU)

Well, as it stands, I rather be safe than sorry if I’m going to be attempting to boot a drive from USB, and I’m making changes to my current BIOS and version and EFI info. I rather do it on a duplicate of a drive, not 2 of my main drives that are the daily drivers. I had to learn the hard way the importance of having backups :/ Thus, why the extra precaution.

I currently do not have a Magic keyboard or trackpad,

I am using MX Keys & MX Master 3 for keyboard and mouse. However, the keyboard does have the MAC shortcuts on the keyboard, and they do work with my current keyboard

You'll want to make a FAT32 USB stick and drag your existing mounted EFI onto that USB stick so that you can F12 boot into it in case anything goes wrong. Then in your (still in your actual EFI partition, right-click and .zip that EFI as a safety (if neccessary) that you can unzip later if you have to restore the original EFI after F12 mounting from your USB stick.

Here's a config w/o serials. You'll have to open the file and create new serials and ID's for this setup.
See my hardware/mobo on the left. I have the RX-580, not the RX-5700. My case is the Fractal Design R6. I load kexts and drivers from the EFI. So depending on how you roll, you'll need to change this around:

@jb007 @CaseySJ -I hope I have this right. Please obliterate it or add to it if necessary...

No real reason on the boot loader. Just curious about OpenCore. I have almost the same setup and have been following you and your progress. I'm on 19.1 and have it set to never sleep and just turn the monitor off after 10 minutes. Seems to work pretty good. Thanks for the reply.
