[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Thanks @Phunk80. For sure, it's a different scale, but I've seen much higher numbers on Geekbench 5 for similar setups. How does your rig fare?
Brand new 2019 28-core Apple Mac Pro 7,1 with 384GB memory and something close to US$30,000:

GeekBench 5:
  • Single Core: 1162
  • Multi Core: 20,869
Still complaining?? :)

Can you please clarify:
  • The Apollo Twin Mk2 Duo and Solo are Thunderbolt 2 devices, therefore requiring a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter.
  • If you connect the Apollo to a TB3-to-TB2 adapter and then to one of the two Thunderbolt ports on the rear IO panel, does it fail to connect?
  • When you say "but with the usb c adapter ... works fine" are you in fact referring to a TB3-to-TB2 adapter instead of a USB Type C to USB Type A adapter?
  • If the TB3-to-TB2 adapter works with the Apollo then it should also work with something like the Apple Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter. Or you may purchase a Firewire PCIe card such as one of the models list near the end of Post #1.

yes the thunderbolt 2 ports don't work if I plug the Apollo Twin Mk2 directly , if I plug in to the TB 3 with my adapter it works. is this to be expected ? I called the TB 3 ports USB C ..they are identical looking..

I got a problem with my wifi and bluetooth here (Fenvi 1200M). Freshly installed Catalina 10.15.1 with the Mini-Guide plist and no changes. Wifi is slow (10mbit) bluetooth is not working (yes, it is plugged in the Fron USB Header). This is the first time i encounter this problem. My last 3 catalina installs were running just fine with this card. Any Idea?

Edit: Maybe this setting?Screen Shot 2019-12-10 at 23.21.29.png

Some things to check in no particular order:
  • Is this card installed in bottom short slot?
  • In System Preferences --> Energy Saver, is Wake for Network Access turned off?
  • Are these tiny MHF4 headers connected to the PCIe card?

  • Are the external antennas connected?
  • Have you tried shutting down the system and flipping power switch on PSU to OFF for 10 seconds, then rebooting?

Now that 10.15.2 is released gunna try a fresh install with it maybe it will get me past my issues lol
Have you seen this post?

The fresh install 10.15.1 with mini guide and AMD GPU config that Phunk80 got? Yeah, I just saw it while scrolling def makes me hopeful to make it happen just with the amount of issues I’ve had. I wonder if I messed something up on that initial install and kernal cache issue just don’t know what if anything I could have ruined while still being able to see and recognize everything in the system.

By the way @Phunk80, congrats on the successful build, bud.

Thanks. I just did another USB Installer with 10.15.2, and I tried it again with my second SSD. I will tell you in a few minutes if its working.
