[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I found the git repository for OcQuirks, but im not sure how to build it. Can't seem to find a downloadable .efi file anywhere either. Someplace in particular i can find this? Thanks!
Both OcQuirks-4.efi and FwRuntimeServices.efi are in the ZIP file attached to the Catalina Mini-Guide.

Glad to hear it and welcome to the forum!
Thanks !! :)

Correct. The Catalina Mini-Guide does not use MultiBeast. Both UniBeast and MultiBeast are being updated for Catalina and not yet available.

This is actually mentioned in the Mini-Guide:
OK I did it and it works. Thanks ! :)

You're the second person to ask this so now I'm wondering if there's something wrong with the config.plist provided in the Catalina Mini-Guide. Will check it later this evening. Meanwhile, does this work (in Clover Configurator --> Boot)?
It was exactly like that but the timeout. I put 2 on the Timeout and saved configuration, rebooted, and nothing has changed... Am I doing something wrong ??

The on-board Intel CNVi module is not usable in macOS, but it will work under Windows. We recommend the Fenvi FV-T919 or Fenvi FV-HB1200.
OK I will consider it... Thanks !

If you manually added the TRIM patch to Kernel and Kext Patches remember to uncheck the Disabled checkbox next to it in Clover Configurator.
I did not saw that I had to do that... So I didn't include the TRIM patch to kernel & kext... Could you help me finding how to do that ? I assume that there is a post somewhere which tells what to do but since I'm really new to that, I would prefer following your advise...

Before you do anything more: MAKE A FULL BOOTABLE BACKUP. Someone just installed the Wacom drivers and the system would not boot again. He had to replace OcQuirks-4 and FwRuntimeServices with OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000. So make a full backup NOW. This applies to everyone.
Ok I will do that... :)

Oh. And can I buy a magic Keyboard and a Magic Mouse 2 ? Are they compatible with that hackintosh out of the box using Fenvi FV-T919 or Fenvi FV-HB1200 ??

Thanks again !

Legit love seeing all the success stories you’ve help create @CaseySJ supwr dope to watch and read. I’ll be getting off work shortly then going to attempt the no internet connect try and then from there gonna try a windows instal make sure all hardware is working. I think that’s the only way I can test if everything is alright.

@CaseySJ thank you so much for all your work on this! I'm up and running with my 5700 XT. I followed the mini-guide and everything seems to be working. Amazing! One thing I noticed in the guide, the second to last line of Step 4 it says to put the renamed config-AMD-GPU.plist onto the USB install disk, but unless I'm reading it wrong I don't think it says anywhere to put it in the EFI of the Catalina SSD.

Can you describe the 'workarounds' that allowed the Catalina installer to start up?

After I failed several times sticking exactly to the Catalina Mini Guide I used the config.plist from your #1 install (Mojave guide) with a Catalina USB Installer that I created with the latest Clover. I swapped back in the "old" OSXAPtioFix2Drv and FakeSMC and replaced the VirtualSMC, etc., mentioned in the Catalina Mini Guide. I could boot the Installer without a problem and installed Catalina. This went super fast in approx 15min total. Only iGPU, no PCI card, NVMe SSD.

I then had a very basic system up and running on iGPU with FAKE iD. I tried to enable the acceleration (setting Fake ID to 0x0) and patch the frame buffer to run higher resolution but did not succeed no matter what. I then installed the 5700 XT and it worked again OOB. Lastly I decided to give it a try and exchanged the config.plist for the config-amd-GPU.plist provided with the Catalina mini guide.
System is running smoothly. Compared to my recovered Upgrade Path System (Mojave -> Catalina) which is also on a 1TB NVMe it boots up in significantly less time.

Thank you! That explains a couple of reported problems. Step 4 in the Mini-Guide has now been fixed.

** General Comment about the Catalina Mini-Guide **

Based on reports of Clover being unable to auto-boot macOS, it seems we might need to Install rc scripts after all. If you have followed the Catalina Mini-Guide please let me know:
  • Can Clover select and boot your Catalina SSD automatically?
  • If so, did you have to modify the config.plist provided in the Catalina Mini-Guide?
I followed the guide. Clover selects my Catalina SSD automatically. I modified the config.plist to make that happen. It was not happening before modifying it.

I finally got around to putting out the money for a Fenvi T919. I don't need WiFi but my Bluetooth dongle was unstable with my Magic Trackpad. I have no business interest in Fenvi but I can't believe the WiFi performance! I have 200mb up/down internet, broadcast from a new (thanks Walmart Black Friday online sale) Netgear Nighthawk AX4 WiFi router. It is one floor and several rooms away from my computer, and I'm getting nearly the full 200mb up/down from the Fenvi card, connected to the 5G channel of the router. Plus, BT works reliably now.

I would bet lunch that an Apple Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse 2 will work just fine.

Clover does not boot my Catalina SSD automatically and I didn't managed to change the config.plist using Clover configurator to boot it after 2 seconds...

I need 32bit apps, so I've stuck with Mojave so far... but I felt daring today, so I created a new APFS volume, downloaded the Catalina 10.15.1 installer, and began the installation from Mojave. Starting with all the latest and greatest goodies (Lilu, WEG, Clover, etc) stashed in the right places, everything went smoothly. After the install was finished, I just copied over my /L/E additions from Mojave, ran kext utility, and viola!

There is one tiny thing that I can't figure out. HWmonitorSMC2 (v2.4.9) doesn't display some of my stats... specifically, CPU utilization and anything related to graphics. I'm using the latest version of VirtualSMC (1.0.9), and all the kexts are installed to CLOVER/kexts/other (not 10.14).

Any ideas on what I should check? To confirm, all my stats are there when I boot into Mojave (with the same Clover + config I use to boot Catalina.)
