[Guide] Install High Sierra or Mojave on the Dell Optiplex 7010 / 9010 Desktop PC - Revision II

Hi,

I got a problem after installing Mac OS Mojave on my Dell 9010 SFF. After the system restarted a few times as described, after the last restart I get a black image after a quick loading screen with the apple logo. I waited for quite some time, but nothing is happening. If I restart the system manually, the same thing happens.
My system has a 3570k, 16GB of RAM, a 256 GB SSD and a 2TB HDD (both formated prior) as well as an HD 7750 LP from sapphire. I followed the guide, but I can't solve the problem. Any ideas what I could try? BTW the monitor still gets a signal from the PC, but it's just a black image.

I would remove the HD 7750 and use the HD4000 graphics from Intel. Your 3570K does have HD4000 so it will work.

A few questions about upgrading to Catalina...
Do I need to upgrade configurator? Should i avoid the 5990x versions of the efi bootloader?
If you mean upgrade Clover to 5990 no, you can still use the the r4961 UEFI version available here:

I have tested it with Catalina and it works. The 5000+ versions of Clover have a changed file structure and it makes it slightly more complicated so stay with r4960 for now.

Thanks for that. Just checking, the installer doesn't appear to give me an option to customise the installation. i've mounted the efi partition in configurator first, run the installer and the only choice i have is to select the install disk which defaults to my macOS system disk. no theme options or optional drivers as in the guide. Cheers.

When you use the MacMan builds of Clover you don't need to select anything. Once Clover is installed you can use HFSplus.efi instead of VBoxHFS.efi. Delete VBox and drag HFSplus.efi into the the Drivers64UEFI folder.

does this installer remove v4701 or does it upgrade it. obviously i put the hfsplus file in the drivers64 folder last time. will i need to add or replace files as in the previous job or will they still be there? Cheers

It's really simple, double click the Clover UEFI 4961 package, go through the prompts to install it. Then delete VboxHFS.efi from the Drivers64UEFI folder. Drag and drop HFSPlus.efi into that same folder. Job done.

Perfect. It worked beautifully with the added advantage that i didn’t need to replace any files at all. Everything stayed exactly as it was beforehand and I was able to upgrade without any issue.
One final question. Which would be your recommended wifi/bluetooth card atm? Cheers

The Fenvi HB1200 is the best value. Well built and works out of box. Fits in both the SFF and the mini tower.

I have intermittent Metal support showing up for the Intel HD4000 graphics on a Dell 7010 USFF with High Sierra. Most of the time graphics is flickering and no Metal support shows up.
I read from RehabMan that IMEI, the Intel management Engine is required for graphics to work fully.
I opened up the box and it says ME Lockout 6 on the sticker and CTRL-P does not work. So it appears IMEI isn’t available and also not showing in Clover boot logs.
Anyone had this problem too?
