I always prefer to download the full installer from the App Store then prepare a usb stick using createinstallmedia. I tried to download the Catalina installer from the App Store and we seem to be back to the situation in the High Sierra days in that the App Store downloads a stub installer. I vaguely remember that it took some manipulation to download the full installer rather than the stub. I deleted any macOS installers from my applications folder and emptied the trash, but that wasn't sufficient to get the full installer. Maybe they are controlling the load on their servers by doing it this way at least at the outset.

Well so now Catalina is officially released.. I'd like to start to get a picture of who has a working Sidecar setup and who doesn't. I, like some other folks, only see a black screen on my iPad (pro 3 12.9) when attempting to enable sidecar.

At first I assumed this was because I have my iGPU disabled is the UEFI (iMacPro1,1), however, as I understand this feature should work with real Macs that do not have iGPUs, so it might not be the iGPU after all.

At this point I'm excited to see if others on this thread with Designare boards see Sidecar working?

P.S. my Catalina update went extremely smooth, no issues, no, glitches, just a. straight upgrade using the inbuilt software update process.
I have iOS 13.1 on my iPad Pro 11" so after upgrading to Catalina I'll test SideCar. Meanwhile, if you have a real Mac you can try it from there...

I get the stub from the app store as well.

I deleted the stub installer and went to software update in settings, and it asked for upgrade now and appears to be downloading the full installer on a real iMac19,1 and my Hackintosh iMacPro1,1.

Testing to see if this fixes the issue with IGPU and Final Cut. I need my IGPU enabled for my setup.

UPDATE - Quick test shows that it's working OK now

Sorry for the translation.;) It's OK for the motherboard (CMOS) .I downloaded the link you gave me. I opened it on Mojave Hackintosh and there was more information to follow your tutorial correctly. Maybe the choice of Imac is not correct. Maybe it's me who is stressing:banghead: because bluetooth and wifi does not work:crazy:. I put the documents at your disposal.
Thank you very much.

It seems that when Windows was first installed, it did not create its own EFI partition and EFI boot folder. Instead, it found a preexisting EFI partition on another disk and created an EFI/WINDOWS folder on that partition. This is the problem we try to avoid by having Windows installed in the top M2M slot.

Does the Windows drive have an EFI partition? It actually might not...

If there's no EFI on the Windows drive try this:
  • Mount all EFI partitions one by one.
  • Check whether any of them has an EFI/WINDOWS folder.
  • If so, rename it or move it to another directory.
  • Then boot the system and Clover should appear.
  • Clover should show both macOS and Windows boot volumes.
  • Choose your O/S from Clover.
I checked all the other drives' EFI partitions. I did find a MacOS folder with some files on one of the data disks EFIs (which should not contain any), so I removed that.
The only Windows folder is to be found on the Windows Boot disks EFI partition. This should not be removed, right? Otherwise, Clover won't be able to boot. Just to be sure, I get you ...
So, what you are saying is, I should always boot windows from clover with the same bios settings? I tested it and it works fine! And this is preferable to booting directly from the Windows disk via BIOS?

Another thing I noticed: Sometimes, WIFI does not work after booting. Other times it just works. Is that because I didn't buy the FENVI option, but rather the second best?
I actually do not depend on WIFI, but I would like to fix that, if it is possible.

I think I pretty much got everything working, except for Monitors via Display Port.

Is there a way to check, if everything is fine? Something like a list to work though? You obviously would need to add special components of your own system, like my USB3 audio interface ... but just for the basic installation?

Yeah my MacBook Pro 13" 2018 works fantastic with Sidecar. Very smooth both wired, and wireless!!

Oh no, this might mean we need firmware (BIOS) support for Sidecar. Will run some tests during the week.

I went iMac Pro because it allowed me to use AptioMemoryFix with iGPU disabled without breaking Quick Look, and the GPU benchmarks faster this way as well. But I did have iMac19,1 running with free2000 memory fix driver.

I am using a Sapphire RX 580 Pulse 8GB.

I've attached my EFI with serials removed.
Thanks! Just one more question: would you recommend that for my system as well? I do audio stuff. I might here and there cut some videos with final cut in the future, but that is only a side aspect. Is AptioMemoryFix recommendable over free2000? And why is it relevant to disable the iGPU? Doesn't the AMD card take over that task as well if you don't disable the iGPU? I just couldn't find information on the why ...
