[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hello @CaseySJ ,

I bought a Fenvi Wifi/Bluetooth PCIe card but it's not detected by macOS.
I plug the card on the PCIe_1 slot, and the card is available in the BIOS.

Did I have to do something with the kext ?
Checklist for Fenvi FV-T919:
  • Install SSDT-DESIGNARE-Z390-NO-CNVW.aml in CLOVER/ACPI/patched folder in the EFI partition of the Mojave SSD.
  • Connect the included Bluetooth data cable to F_USB port on the motherboard.
  • After both of the above are done:
    • Log in to Mojave.
    • Run IORegistryExplorer
    • Scroll the tree on left side pane until you see XHC. (Do not use the "search" field.)
      • Then look for HS11 or HS12 as a child node.
      • Do you see the word "Bluetooth" anywhere under HS11 or HS12?
    • You may also select File --> Save As... from IORegistryExplorer to save the IOReg tree. Then upload that file.

@CaseySJ you did an amazing job! How can I thank you/donate? I am just wondering why my Vega is idle? When it comes to rendering fan stays silent and it renders really slow. The fan is hearable only on boot, after the system is loaded up fan goes really silent. Temperature sensor on GPU is showing constant 127°C

The Wi-Fi is slower than on my previous iMac, bought bcm94360cs2 with adaptor and it's slow...

I replied to the first paragraph in the other thread so I'll reply to the WiFi issue here.
  • If you hold the Option or ALT key when clicking the WiFi icon on the menu bar, you should see a few lines of text in GRAY. One of those line will be Tx Rate. What number do you see?
  • Disable Wake for Network Access from System Preferences --> Energy Saver.
  • Also refer to Fixing Auto Sleep in post #1.

My build seems to be stable, despite some odd TB3 hot swapping not working
One of the main programs I use is Silverstack Lab for video management and transcoding footage - I wasn't getting playback from any videoclips.. not sure if this would be a software issue with the hack? no issues in Davinci Resolve

The latest SSDT named SSDT-Z390-DESIGNARE-TB3HP-V4.aml can be found in Post-Install Files.zip. To install:
  • Mount EFI partition of Mojave SSD.
  • Delete the existing SSDT-Z390-DESIGNARE-TB3HP-Vxx.aml from CLOVER/ACPI/patched
  • Copy the new file in CLOVER/ACPI/patched
  • Reboot
This does not address the LaCie problem, but improves sleep/wake reliability as mentioned in previous post.

The LaCie Thunderbolt 1 drive does not look like it will work on this system. Your options are limited:
  • Test it with a TB3 dock, but return it if it doesn't help (or borrow one from someone if you can).
  • Purchase a new TB3 drive enclosure. There are many very good models on the market. You should be able to move the existing drives into the new enclosure.
    • Please see Thunderbolt 3 Experiences for a list of known compatible models.
EDIT: One more suggestion:
  • Temporary delete or move out the file SSDT-Z390-DESIGNARE-TB3HP-V4.aml from the CLOVER/ACPI/patched folder.
  • Don't worry -- macOS will still initialize the Thunderbolt system. Only hot plug capability will be gone.
  • Connect the LaCie to either of the two USB-C (Thunderbolt) ports on the back panel and reboot.
    • LaCie must be connected and powered on before rebooting the computer.
  • Does the drive show up in macOS?

So it looks like I am SOL on the Thunderbolt 1 -> Thunderbolt 3. I ordered a Thunderbolt 3 dock from OWC and it should be here later so I will keep you posted.

Also, I noticed my Ethernet is pretty slow. I have 1Gbps speed and am only getting about 100Mbps from a hardwire connection. Is that normal? My Xbox One and PS4 are both getting around 400 Gbps.

Hi I'm getting this panic every time I start up. I have to switch the machine off and on.
Can someone help please?

I've had this a few times, but definitely not every time I start up. I haven't found the culprit but will report back if I do. Since I switched to the Fenvi card I have not experienced this issue, but I did not experience it enough to place blame on the other card. I don't really have any insight into what has caused this.

Just curious/a shot in the dark: do you use any Universal Audio devices? iLok dongles? Little Snitch?

There could be several reasons for this, but first thing to check is System Preferences --> Network --> Advanced --> Hardware. Check the Speed, Duplex, and MTU settings.

We have seen excellent software compatibility on this system, especially with Platform ID 0x3E980003 and SMBIOS iMac19,1 under Mojave.

Because of the Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti in your profile, I assume you're running High Sierra? If so, are you using a headless platform ID? And are you using iMac18,3 in SMBIOS?

Additionally, because you have two real Macs listed in your profile, have you tried the same use case on either of them (using the same files)?

Hey @CaseySJ, do you recommend using the platform ID 0x3E980003 even if I'm rocking a 9700K? Everything seems to be working fine with the original untouched 0x3E910003. I didn't even set this, it just automatically applied it.

I notice you are using a Thunderbolt connection for your Gbps internet... the onboard ethernet ports don't work the same?
