[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

After 10.14.5, I could no longer log into iMessage, nor did unlock with Apple Watch work as the option wasn't even there anymore. Opened Clover, added the EmuVariable64 bit driver and now all works again.

Basically the opposite of

  1. Optional, but recommended: After performing the two steps above, mount the EFI partition of your Mojave disk with Clover Configurator and use the "Install Drivers" section (lower left) to uninstall EmuVariableUEFI-64.
Correct -- Step 24 needs to be deleted. Although the paragraph below has been there for a while, it's better to keep EmuVariable installed at all times.

AMD Vega and Radeon 7 Owners:

After upgrading to 10.14.5, please feel free to post any observations or improvements that this version brings to the (a) speed, (b) power, and (c) fans of your Vega 56, Vega 64, and Radeon 7. Did you remove all existing fan and power control kexts, SSDTs, and Clover injects?

Hey guys, today I updated mojave to 10.14.5 and changed my system definition from MacMini to Imac19.1 and I have a problem.
I have the same build as Casey and the only difference is that I have i9-9900K processor. If I check "About this mac" segment it states that I have an i7 processor.

Does anybody know if there is anything that I could set up wrong?
I would like the system to know on its own which processor I'm using and don't want to just change it with text editor.

I also attached my config.plist and screenshot of "About this mac".
If there are any other errors in config.plist I would be grateful if you could tell me about it.

Another problem that I have is with Adobe Indesign. It doesn't want to use Accelerated graphics. On my old hackintosh( i7- 930; GTX465) It works with same monitor (it is stated on Adobe website that the monitor should be compatible with it so I guess this is not the problem? ) Maybe if somebody is using inDesign and stumbled upon same problem knows how to fix this. The monitor I'm using is Dell u2412m.

Thanks in advance!
Cheers!

Hello CaseySJ.

I got the Z390 Designare (F5 BIOS) some time ago with a Core i7 8700 but have had no time to experiment with them until now. I hope to test if the board works properly with MacOS and if so I will use it as the heart of my main system, replacing the Z270X-UD5 and the i7 7700K.

I cloned a copy of Sierra 10.12.6 and High Sierra 10.13.6 from my main machine to a blank disk, and then attempted to boot them using the board, the i7 8700, and a Sapphire Pulse RX 560 graphics card (I also used an old GTX 660).

To my delight, both Sierra and High Sierra successfully booted up on the Designare, and after updating IntelMausiEthernet to version 2.4.0 and using the latest versions of Lilu and AppleALC kexts, LAN and audio worked in both Sierra and High Sierra. For the RX 560 I need to use WhateverGreen on Sierra but it is not needed on High Sierra.

However, I have encountered a problem. After updating to the F6 BIOS, Sierra and High Sierra still boots, but the USB keyboard and mouse, which are attached to the USB2 ports at the back, seem to be disabled. Tried unplugging and plugging them but no luck. I check the BIOS settings to make sure they are the same as when I use the F5 BIOS, and they are, but I just can't use the keyboard and mouse. No idea what the F6 BIOS changed to cause this problem.

For now, I am back to the F5 BIOS where the USB keyboard and mouse work properly with both Sierra and High Sierra.

I suppose you have not tried to run High Sierra 10.13.6 (or Sierra 10.12.6) using this board? Can any of the resources available in your guide be used with Sierra or High Sierra?

You could set CPU type to 0x1005 in Clover Configurator, and it will be properly detected. That's the same CPU type from iMac19,1 IOReg.

The Noctua website writes that the NH-D15 covers the first PCIe slot. Why do you write that he remains free?

Hey,
I did what you said and it's working!

Thanks for you quick support!
Cheers!

Hello @Jamesbond007,

I encountered the same problem with the two USB 2 ports (HS09 / HS10) when installing Mojave 10.14.4 a few weeks ago. The USB port limit patches did not activate these ports, but the USB SSDT (which requires USBInjectAll.kext) enables the ports without any problem.

Have you tried copying the SSDT-UIAC-DESIGNARE-Z390-V6.aml to the ACPI/patched folder, and installing USBInjectAll.kext in both CLOVER/kexts/Other and /Library/Extensions?

Which post are you referring to?

*** macOS 10.14.5 Update ***

Just completed the 10.14.5 update, but this update was somewhat scary compared to previous updates. Here's what you should do and what you should expect:

I do not find any thing scary. This is so smooth on my machine. And it is the same as previous updates.
