[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I use it for FCPX and Motion. It is rock solid. I started with a RX 580 and then, through the graciousness of a friend have a Radeon Pro WX 9100. I also do audio editing for a Podcast. That requires exporting hour long files as MP3 and this really flies with that too. I attribute the speed to the SSD's I am using as much as the CPU and Graphics Card. I have read on this board that the Vega 64 has fan issues sometimes. Read through the thread -- I don't have personal experience with it.

Thank you for that information. Also, does your Thunderbolt port work consistently? I'm planning to connected an OWC enclosure to it.

I have a 4 drive OWC THunderbolt 3 interface works great. Look at my build post in here for the drive speeds. It hot swaps. Drives show up as internal to MAC with it.

Hey again!

I followed the guide (with the exception of using High Sierra and not Mojave) and managed to get stuff more or less going - I'm using it as we speak, and I got all the usb ports to work and the front audio connector. I was working on the post installation part of the guide, and I got to the UHD 630 bit, but somehow I went into a boot loop and couldn't access the desktop. I disabled the new changes in the config through the CBM and got it to load.

I'm trying to configure Lilu and whatever green using https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/an-idiots-guide-to-lilu-and-its-plug-ins.260063/, but I'm struggling to even start since I can't find a matching ID for my system. When I tried to setup Mac mini 8,1 the system wouldn't boot, so I changed back to iMac 14,2 but now I can't match any ID with the settings I need. Is there a different way to go about it? am I missing something?
Thanks!

EDIT- I'm looking at all my settings now and something feels a bit off, I might attempt this whole process again later today. In the mean time, if anyone has any tips to what might've gone wrong this time, it would be greatly appreciated!

Use 18,3 as SMBIOS for High Sierra, if you want to use Hd Graphics instead of discrete graphics, you must delete PCI properties from clover plist and whatevergreen will fix it for you automatically, the guide configures intel graphics in headless mode (for Quicksync).

Im using high sierra too without issues.

Okay, great! how do I delete the pic properties then? I can't find it in the text format or the configurator.

iPhone X.
I will probably keep using the USB A cable, I was just surprised why it was not working.
Interesting that Apple is still using USB 2.0 for the lightning connector even on iPhone Xs. I believe the iPadPros from last 2017 and 2018 are both using USB 3.0 for faster I/O over lightning. I would expect the new iPhones to switch to USB 3.0 as well, especially if Apple decides to retire the lightning connector in favor of USB-C as they did on the 2018 iPadPro.

Nevertheless, I ordered an Apple lighting to USB-C cable that should arrive today so I can at least observe this weirdness for myself!

Hi,

Please try the attached config-IdoZ.plist (rename needed of course). Your boot loop problem may have arisen from this:

390722

Here you are renaming PEGP to GFX0 and then renaming GFX0 to IGPU. Neither of these renames is necessary. The attached file removes these entries and adds a number of device properties for enabling the iGPU. It also sets SMBIOS to iMac18,3. This will allow all 3 of the on-board video ports to work (HDMI, DisplayPort 1, DisplayPort 2 -- the last two ports are provided through the Thunderbolt USB-C connectors). You can still use a discrete GPU with this configuration.

Note that the 2018 Mac Mini (Macmini8,1) was released with MacOS 10.14.1. This means you cannot use Macmini8,1 on any version of MacOS prior to 10.14.1.

Please test this file, but note that if you are a Final Cut Pro user, you should switch to a headless configuration. I can modify the config.plist for you once you can verify whether this version works.

Hi @CaseySJ quick question. I'm researching about how to change Country Code for the Wifi as per your suggestion and tsr96. The link below, am I on the right track? Coz I'm not really sure what plist was I supposed to edit with the link you sent me a couple of days ago. And lastly, what's the significance of changing to correct country code? I mean, what positive effect will it do to my system?

Just to recap, the only concern I have right now is I'm not able to put my Fenvi to an X1 slot (just to X8 and X16) and also, the bluetooth audio-video sync/delay. Will changing the country code help in any way? Thanks so much as always mate!

what's the significance of changing to correct country code?
Every country has specific frequency ranges and channels that routers sold there can transmit. The local laws are very different for each country. So if your country code says Singapore then your wifi card is looking for only those frequencies and the specific channels. The router you bought in the Phillipines probably doesn't match the Singapore specs. This is why you must change the country code to Phillipines (or at least a generic one) to get the wifi card working normally.
