The Z390 AORUS Ultra and Z390 AORUS Elite both have a single HDMI v1.4 port so it's very likely that the Framebuffer configurations are the same. Therefore, please try the pre-built Framebuffer settings as shown in the image below.

Instructions are in the first red box. Settings are in the second red box. You will have to make the following changes first in config.plist using Clover Configurator:
  • Devices --> Fake ID --> IntelGFX --> remove any entry you might have made in this field.
  • Graphics --> Inject Intel --> uncheck the checkbox.
  • Graphics --> ig-platform-id --> remove any entry you might have made in this field.

Thank you CaseySJ for the fast response. The patch could load the correct display settings and other options, like connections with apple tv, etc. Unfourtunatelly, there are still glitches and image degradation/distortion (tried to catch it on the attached picture). Maybe the Framebuffer configurations are not exactly the same as the Elite mobo?

There might be some room for fine-tuning the framebuffer configuration. Many of us are still experiencing some HDMI-related glitches such as:
  • Need to unplug and replug HDMI cable after login.
  • Distorted graphics with some third-party apps such as Clover Configurator, Chrome, and Firefox.
  • In your case the problem seems to be dark backgrounds (i.e. lack of transparency)?
Let's verify some things first:
  • Can you run Hackintool or Intel FB-Patcher, select Framebuffer --> MacOS 10.14 and Patch --> Apply Current Patches from the top menu bar, then click the Connectors page.
  • Are any of the lines highlighted in red? If so, click on the red line and upload a screenshot of this page (CMD-Shift-5).
  • Then select the General page and capture a screenshot of that as well.
  • What is the make and model of your monitor? Is it 4K? If so, are you using a certified HDMI v1.4 or better cable? (Believe it or not some members have replaced their HDMI cables to solve certain glitches.)

Exactly, didn't notice the lack of transparency but I guess it hapens.

Sure, used Hackintool but didn't find any red line (Did I loose something?)

I have an old ViewSonic VX1940-W, not 4K. I changed the HDMI cable and it initially looks more reliable, but after a while the glitches have taken all the screen. It started to show intermitently black screens also. Will reboot the machine to see what hapens.

UPDATE:
After change the cable for a third (highest quality) version, the dark backgrounds persists, as the blinking of windows borders, BUT the screen image looks way better.

Hackintool seems to have a problem displaying the red highlights. Please try again with the attached version of Intel FB-Patcher. We must again select Framebuffer --> MacOS 10.14 and Patch --> Apply Current Patches from the top menu bar, then click the Connectors page.

Also, are you using Platform ID 0x3EA50009 intentionally? For the desktop Coffee Lake CPU, we should use 0x3E9B0007.

I've disabled any information regarding Platform Id, as you previous mentioned here:
  • Graphics --> ig-platform-id --> remove any entry you might have made in this field.
After your advise, I inserted that platform-id (0x3E9B0007) in Clover/Graphics/ig-platform-id.

I think we have the needed information now.
I had to choose the right "IntelGen" (Coffe Lake) and "Platformid" (0x3E9B0007) in FabPatcher.

Hey CaseySJ, I've been tweaking my system the last days but can't go ahead with fine tunning.

The machine already recognize the monitor and there are display scaling options, also it barely sleep/wake (can not shutdown).
