For starters I've never done a Hackintosh before. But I'm interested in figuring out if my Laptop is compatible as far as components and what not go to see if I could possibly dual boot.

Model : Gigabyte P55v7
CPU : i-7700HQ (2.8GHz)
GPU : Nvidia GTX 1060 (6GB)
RAM : 16 GB (2400 MHz)
SSD : Brand Unknown (250 GB)
HDD : Brand Unknown (1 TB)

Now I could do some further research whenever needed as far as the components / specs go. But based off of what I have, would I be able to dual boot into OSX with my laptop?

If it is Nvidia only, it might work with the Nvidia web drivers, but AFAIK, no one has got brightness control working (no guide written that I know of).

Otherwise read FAQ.

Appreciate that. I was reading through it and I wanted to see if I understanding right, is the only way to dual boot is to have to reinstall Windows or can you avoid and just partition the hard drive?

Sometimes the macOS installer has issues with drives partitioned for Windows (especially with all the OEM garbage).
In that case, novices will end up re-partitioning and installing Windows later.
Experts can come up with other ways, such as installing to an external device, adding the partition with Linux, then cloning the partition over, or similar.
