18,3 SMBIOS

Hmmm... everything on this end is "go" as well (on the surface), I wonder what is wrong over here...

How do you generate an MLB (board serial number) for 18,3? The tools in the idiots guide and other serial gens have not been updated to the new models.

I experienced missing devices and external drives showing up as internal with my first test of 18,3 smbios. Also it seemed that IO reg was showing devices I had excluded with ssdt. I'll try the new USB kext and see if it makes a difference.

If your profile is correct, you shouldn't use 18,3.

As far as I know, Clover Configurator has been updated with iMac18,x SMBIOS support. I didn't know simpleMLB needed to be updated for new SMBIOS.

OK - got Handoff working. It isn't 18,3, but, a "bug" in the way Handoff works. The solution was to attempt to pair the iPhone with the Hack.

simpleMLB doesn't need to be updated. The current Clover Configurator will generate the proper IDs. However, "his" system profile isn't really suitable for 18,3 (from what I see). 14,2 or 17,x would be better given my level of knowledge of both.

Yes, a user confirmed SimpleMLB worked for him with the iMac18,3 SMBIOS :

I rebuilt from scratch with macOS 10.12.6 downloaded from the App Store. Used the magic wand to pick iMac18,3 (Kaby Lake 7700K) and generated serial number, then followed P1LGRIM's instructions to generate the SMUUID and Board Serial Number and I can verify that Messages (and FaceTime) work the very first time the machine booted up in Sierra 10.12.6.

As I updated to 18,3, I had to re-do my serial as well and had no trouble either.

The PM of Skylake and Kabylake isn't that much different. Quick Geekbench an prime95 tests show that the 18,3 bios is stable and performs about the same. The one issue I haven't been able to resolve with my hack has been TB3 / usb C power mgmt and the new iMac is closer to my MB than the older 17,x which does not have either. Doesn't seem to be any harm in running the newer smbios that I can see. USB seems to behave properly with xelanaiznac's modified USBInjectAll.kext.

While we're on the exploratory subject of 18,3, is this graph a normal temp graph for a processor OC'd to 5ghz?

Not doing much here other than using Firefox, iMessage, and the HW Monitor application.

If i was seeing those figures when overclocked to 5Ghz I wouldnt be concerned in any way.
