Hi everyone, I currently have an i3-6300 installed in my hackintosh build. I use it solely for audio recording and production. Lately, I've noticed the CPU usage is pretty high when running Amplitube 4. I am considering sticking a 6600k or 6700k in to better handle the load that multiple vst plug-ins put on the cpu. My question is what all needs to be done to get either of those CPUs rockin n rollin? I remember using some kind of generic ssdt for power management with my i3-6300, but I haven't been able to find that thread on tonymac anywhere. I would like to do a slight overclock to boost performance.

Any and all help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi there,

Yep, that thread with the CPU SSDTs is:

https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-el-capitan-on-the-skylake-h170n-wifi.178197/

Scroll down to Final Power Saving Setup and you'll see them.

:)

That's the one! Is there any downside to using one of those rather than creating one specifically for my cpu? I don't really care if the power management is perfect, but I do want it to downclock when it doesn't need to run as hard. I'm probably going to get the 6600k since its only 180 bucks right now at the Denver Microcenter. Will the generic ssdt for that cpu still work alright with, say a 4.0 - 4.2 ghz OC?
