Hi,

Threw together my first desktop, and first hackintosh today. Unfortunately, after the first part of hte install (when the computer reboots for the first time) i cannot seem to get past a certain stage of the second part of installation. I cannot finish installing Sierra before the computer reboots.

Mostly followed Stork's build and instructions here: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...i-gene-i5-6600k-gigabyte-gtx-950.181272/#BIOS

My components:
i7-6700k
Asus Maximus Gene VIII
corsair vengeance RAM
samsung 850 evo SSD
No discrete GPU

My install steps:
  1. Updated my BIOS, changed the settings as recommended by Stork.
  2. Rebooted into Sierra install
  3. Part 1 runs fine, reboots
  4. Among boot drives, select newly installed macOS on samsung SSD.
  5. Installer loads. Select Country. Select Keyboard.
  6. Select Ethernet on "How Do You Connect" menu (my computer is connected via ethernet to my router.)
  7. Select "Using DHCP" for "TCPIP Connection Type"
  8. Leave DHCP Clinet ID, DNS servers, Search Domains, and Proxy Server all blank. Click continue.
  9. Gray screen. Mouse freezes in position. After 1-2 seconds, the spinning gear shows up, but my mouse is still unresponsive.
  10. Gear continues to spin for a few seconds, then computer reboots

SMBIOS details:
Product Name: iMac14.2
Product Version 1.0
...
Board Version: iMac14,2

Any ideas what's causing this issue?

Please let me know if you would need any other info to diagnose this problem - i'd be more than happy to provide it.

The Rules said:

For the purposes of completing the installation you could try the no network option.

That worked! Thanks.

for anyone else who encounters this problem:

I installed, choosing "this computer does not connect to internet" when prompted about ethernet or wifi. Rest of hte install went off without a hitch, and upon login i ran multibeast, picking the ethernet drivers as specified in Storks' build quoted above.

I did not check if ethernet was already operational prior to running multibeast, but in any case it is perfectly operational post multibeast.

Still have some graphical issues with the Intel HD530 i'm using... have injected whatever HD530 patch included in multibeast, and i see some mention in the rest of the forum of manually injecting some changes in clover.... but is this not redundant given that i've already used the patch in Multibeast?

OR are they two completely different things?
