Direct Update to OS X El Capitan Using Clover

Can't see an EFI folder in my system's root...
I bought my machine on ebay rather than build it myself (bad decision), so I can't be sure clover was installed correctly (although it appears to be working flawlessly)

Finder -> Go to folder -> /EFI
Doesn't work either.

Thanks

Update:

I'm now on iMac 14,2 as reported to be working by iRobie (thank you ;) )

But I figured out that I missed as well the FakeSMC kext file .... Thats because I did not need it for Yosemite (I don't need any kext for clover). Currently I'm using it now but I don't know what really helped.... was it the SMBIOS or the kext?

Will figure that out later.

Had the same problem of the spinning rainbow with nothing working. Switched to iMac 14,2 and added the FakeSMC kext file as well, and the upgrade ran smoothly.

Thanks!

Eric

UGH i've fallen victim to the Grey spinning:

I have double checked my SIP, Tried every variation of Other/10.10/10.11 fakesmc.kext, I've tried to run nv_disable=1 but I have an thing in Clover where if I press shift+- then I get a huge string of ____, So i used clover configurator to check the boot args nv_disable=1 and -v but the verbose mode won't even boot up. I have a feeling this method did not work. Looking or where to go from here D:

EDIT: attached image is with me manually typing in -v not with the current config.plist

I had the grey screen an beachball issue. Fixed it by upgrading Clover to the latest version. Installed fine, but then I got stuck in a reboot loop. I fixed that by deleting Ev0reboot and restarting with boot flag -f.

I don't have any kexts in any of my /Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/kexts/* folders. This doesn't seem right?

Should I just place the FakeSMC.kext in /Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.11?

Just using the FakeSMC.kext allowed for a flawless upgrade to 10.11.2.

You'll need to boot with Clover and set it to verbose (-v flag in the boot options) to see what is causing the issue.

Currently, you've not posted enough information for anyone to be able to help you fix your problem.
