Hi All

I have A Hacintosh which is 3.5 years old running Osx 10.6.8 with I boot build with a guide from

tonymacx86.

it has A GIGABYTE EP43-UD3L s775 C2Q 1333Mhz, Intel P43, DDRII 1333, PCI-E motherboard

and A Core 2 Quad Q9550, 1333Mhz, s775, 12MB Tray Intel Xeon Processor

and A DDR II 800Mhz 2*4GB Kingston Ram

I want to upgrade my hardware to a stronger processor and 16 Giga Ram, because I'm a sound editor and the software are eating up all my cpu and the projects are getting bigger.

i don't want to change my OS because it has the best compatibility with all my other software.

after all these limitations, to which processor can i upgrade ?

? and is there any issue with changing my Ram to 4*4 instead of 2*4

thank you all for any response

Tom

Upgrading My Processor

It's a Socket 775 motherboard. The CPU you have in it is about the fastest 775 processor you're likely to find. They've been obsolete for 3-4 years though. The last 775's were released back in 2008.

It is NOT a Xeon as you list however.

You'll probably need to buy a new Socket 1155 motherboard, a Haswell CPU and new DDR3 RAM to really get any useful improvement, this is essentially a whole new system, and not very cheap.

More RAM will not be a problem.
