I have never built a hackintosh before and have put together my own system. Here is my system:

Zotac H87-ITX-a-e
Intel Pentium G3258 (Haswell dual core, 3.0GHz)
4GB Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3
2 x 3TB Seagate NAS HDD (want to set up as RAID-1)

I don't know where to begin. I have an OS X Snow Leopard DVD. I know I can't just install it straight up. But I don't know where to start. I know I need to do the iBoot thing, but do I also need to flash the BIOS, update DSDT, kext or change anything else? After I install Snow Leopard, can I update to the latest OS X or will I have to go through other steps? I may have just read too much and confused myself, but any assistance you have would help.

Propbably the best resource for you is the http://www.tonymacx86.com/446-building-customac-buyer-s-guide-october-2014.html . This guide gives you a multiple of different builds with different parts. Also, the parts listed are pretty much compatible.

With that said, I would say the most important piece of hardware is the Motherboard. I know the most compatible motherboards are Gigabyte. However, you can get away with other manufacturers as well. If you are going to use a board other than Gigabyte, I would recommend finding someone who has completed a build with that same MB and check out what works and what doesnt work and how they completed their build. Sorry i don't have much experience with MBs other than gigabyte.

Also, before I made my first hack, I spent a lof time on the Golden Builds section. http://www.tonymacx86.com/golden-builds/
These builds pretty much run flawlessly and also have very good documentation regarding their build process.

I hope this gets your started.
