Also, where would be a good place to start reading up on all this. Is there like a reference manual or will Google be my best friend?

Graphics, it says it is a Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500 (integrated graphics controller)
GMA 4500 graphics are integrated into the motherboard, they're not like Intel HD graphics which are on the CPU die. The GMA 4500 graphics are not officially supported by macOS so don't plan on using those. Buy a dedicated card and follow the guide. Don't get too caught up in the tech specs of the 8000. Give the install a try and see if you can have some success with an older version of macOS first. Sierra or High Sierra are not the easiest (for newbies) to install on these. The 8200 or 8300 models are a better fit, more compatible with the latest offerings from Apple.

You'll also want to find out the exact model of the CPU (try CPU Z in Windows) to determine if you could even run Sierra or High Sierra. If it's anything lower than say an E7200 Core 2 Duo it will not be possible to install Sierra or High Sierra. If it's one of the E6000 series it's a no go with High Sierra.

Thank you all for the information. Looks like first, I'd have to reinstall Windows 10 Pro. Use CPU-Z software and get exact specs, procure a graphics card and an external audio adapter before I can start doing anything.

In the meantime, lots of reading and reinstalling Win 10 Pro which I have no idea why it suddenly crapped out. No wonder everyone calls it Windoze.

Thanks a bunch guys for hanging in there with me. Happy New Year too BTW!!!

Hello folks. I'm trying to do this with a 8000 SFF box. Ordered the graphics card but somehow missed checking the size and it turned out to be a full size one so it wouldn't fit. Looking around for your recommended graphics cards and they are for some reason super expensive. Found this, and would think it would fit. Was wondering if anyone can help this newbie out on computer parts to see if it would fit and work with the rest of the hardware etc......

Much thanks in advance.

That card would not be the best choice. What version of the Mac operating system are you wanting to run on this ?

Hi there trs96, I was just going to follow the guide and install Yosemite or Mavericks....... I just didn't want to spend more than $50 USD for my first try at making a hackintosh. I do want to make this hackintosh a media center just like the tutorial.

Thanks!

Go for this GT 210 for a really low cost. It's the Asus Branded EN210 1 GB. I've bought one from this seller. It's already got the low profile bracket attached and mine had 1 GB not 512mb as the title said.

Oh wow!!! Thank you so much for the link!!!!! I'll get right on it. I hope that all that he's selling is 1 GB and not that you got lucky with a 1 GB!! Definitely keep you all posted on my first hackintosh!!!! have a great evening!!

By the way..... just FYI to anyone reading this, tigerdirect.com has the HP Compaq Elite 8000 series for sale...... I paid a total of just $100 for mine. Shipped and looks brand new. I'll update you guys (trs96) when my graphics card comes in. I've got the USB all prepared already with Yosemite...... just waiting for the card!! My current mac mini 2009 version has lasted me a long time, but is starting to make noises and I feel it's about to die. So perfect timing!!

Hi TRS96
My purchase from the link you recommended came in today. I installed it and was going to start installing Yosemite. However, I missed the boot screen and Windows ended up booting up instead (It was preinstalled), and it did it's thing and updated the driver for the card etc......

Looks like you probably got a lucky card that turned out to be 1GB instead of as listed 512 MB. See the screenshot, it shows 512 MB. Will the hackintosh install still work?

Thanks
